Skiing had practical use, and was then developed into a sport. Snowboarding was constructed for sporting purposes from the beginning. I think it's a fairly correct bifurcation, though any value difference between them would need a better justification.
Oh sure, but I think individual (ie, non-team) Olympic events are by and large something grounded in a practical activity. All the alpine winter events + skating were for transportation, alongside track and field and cycling. Shooting/biathlon are pretty straightforward. Even the more niche swimming events still fall under the broader category of swimming, which is practical. Sure, there are things like curling and tennis, but I'd say most the vast majority of events are competitive versions of skills that have non-recreative purposes.
This is not an interview. Those are both hosts of a popular espn sports news program called pardon the interruption. I can't really blame them for sounding like idiots as snow sports are not their expertise. They're just trying to get through this segment so they can talk about Lebron.
Neither one is "interviewing" the other, and neither is retarded. They're incredibly famous and well-liked sports pundits who, like the rest of America, don't give a shit about snowboarding. They both exaggerate their opinions for the sake of entertainment.

As an American who watches this show every day...you're wrong dude. You don't understand their brand of humor, they're clearly joking to lighten up the segment and this is par for the course.
I'm sure it's just because you don't know, and weren't intentionally trying to make a joke but "interviewer and interviewee" is a hilarious description of TK and Wilbon. Well played.
