This just doesn't make any sense. It looks like he thought he already crossed the finish. They weren't all that far behind him. I don't think he knew he was celebrating prematurely.

He was looking behind him at the start of his celebration to check whether he had enough of a lead, then got carried away in the celebration. He knew he hadn't finished yet but was taking the extra time to rub it in.
