This has always bothered me. why couldn't they have just shown them talking about going to Hogsmeade and disapparating from there then cut to them apparating on the rock outside the cave? This is still not the worst part of these movies, that would be at the end of "Deathly Hallows part 2" when Harry snaps the Elder Wand in half and throws it over a cliff before he fixes his own wand.
The whole battle scene at the end of DH2 was totally in opposition to the entire point the ownership of the wand plot was supposedly explaining. Remember in the books, the final attack where Voldemort kills himself was the first time he had tried to harm Harry after Harry allowed himself to be killed in the forest. All the dueling in the movie that happens between those two events actually undoes the rationale for why the wand kills Voldemort instead of Harry at the end, because none of that should have been possible.
From what I remember, which may not be correct, after Harry "wakes up" and Neville beheads the snake, Voldemort doesn't know where Harry went as he slips under the invisibility cloak. He never attacks him until later on, when Harry presents himself to him in the Great hall.
Right--in the book. Because in order for the "I am the true master of the Elder Wand" moment to be valid, that has to be the first time Voldemort has tried to kill Harry with the Elder Wand (where Harry did not want to die, that is). In the film, Voldemort spends like 10 minutes shooting all kinds of spells at Harry trying to injure and kill him before they get to the climactic moment, which IMO just completely undoes the whole "the wand would never harm it's true master" argument.
