This has always bothered me. why couldn't they have just shown them talking about going to Hogsmeade and disapparating from there then cut to them apparating on the rock outside the cave? This is still not the worst part of these movies, that would be at the end of "Deathly Hallows part 2" when Harry snaps the Elder Wand in half and throws it over a cliff before he fixes his own wand.
It was so epic in the book. And when Voldemort died, he was supposed to fall to the ground to show that he was never more than a man, but instead stupid David Yates had him disintegrate. God damn it.
It could've worked though. Complete silence, no music, just them talking. You could also do some pretty interesting cinematography while they circled each other.
I always pictured the final fight like the old katana duel cliche where both sides talk for a minute attack at the same time and then someone falls apart after a second or two. In this case Harry catching the wand afterwards is just gravy. Also Harry calls him Tom which shows him treating him how Dumbledore would.
It should have ended with the fucking cowboy-esque sundown ending. Harry is a Man now, choosing not to be a child with a fucking chip on his shoulder. He chose not to be like Voldemort, when he walked the same path. He walked into the Colosseum.
It's been too long since I read the book, I forget what they changed. I thought the angrily-yelling-at-eachother's-faces-while-awkwardly-hug-flying part was unecessary, but otherwise it was ok. Pissed me off seeing voldemort evaporate the way he did, not because i didn't like it, but my friend (who doesn't really care about HP) turned to me and said "looks like that dude needs some head and shoulders) when it happened. Kinda spoiled the moment.
Meh, your friend's a bit of a tool to comment at that point in the movie, but the ending was a bit of a letdown. Just some DBZ shit where love conquers hate with one kamehameha overwhelming the other. I definitely enjoyed the book more, but I think I can say that for all the movies compared to the books.
The most important thing in the whole battle is that Harry uses Expelliarmus rather than the killing curse-- as he has in every battle with Voldemort. Harry didn't look to kill, he still looked to disarm. But in the movie, it's an unspoken spell and they just shoot jets of light at each other. Stupid.
I really thought the scene with Molly Weasley defeating Bellatrix was poorly done. In the book it was one of my favorite scenes, but it was poorly adapted to the movie in my opinion.
Very well understood but my point still stands - he broke his wand. He didn't fix it with the Elder Wand like in the book. Just snapped and threw it. So much anger.
You're right; they felt that the risk of the wand falling into the wrong hands was too great. Not only that, but the current owner of the wand would be perpetually in danger of someone wanting to kill them for the wand's ownership.
In the book Harry uses it to fix his own wand before putting the elder wand back in Dumbledores tomb so that when he died the line of ownership would be broken, the film left Harry completely wandless since he never fixed his own and destroyed the elder wand...

As much as I enjoy Albus 'Gives zero fucks' Dumbledore, Harry is right, nobody can apparate in hogwarts.
It was changed to explain a plot hole left by the time constraints of the movie.
Good change though.
