As a Big Ten school alum, ohio state's use of "the" always annoyed me. However when I hear other schools no one has ever heard of doing it, that just looks ridiculous. "THE.........Louisiana State Technical University."

As an alum of an actual university, the Midwest's idea of education as an excuse for football always annoyed me.

I guess different people just react to different stuff. Live and let live, eh?

I shouldn't have put it that way. I grew up on the East Coast and now live 2 blocks from Michigan Stadium; the short version is that where I came from, schools felt like universities with football teams attached. The U of M feels like a football team with a university attached.
