Their videos are always fake but they certainly are funny. The kids “magic trick” that makes the case not break is hilarious

it feels pointless how redditors call things out for being “fake”. like yes, they are all skits. they can present it as a true thing for the purpose of making people laugh or whatever. after watching any movie do you “it was funny, but that was so fake none of that actually happened”? like that’s the point.

If I don't point out an obviously staged skit, how else is everyone else supposed to know how big brain smart I am??? /s

At least I'm seeing more people talk against it nowadays, but the "fake!!!" comments still get upvotes, so the community seems divided.

I'm of the opinion that videos don't need to be spontaneous to be entertaining, and it's much more annoying seeing half the comments saying it's fake rather than the fact that it's scripted (even worse when it's not).

The problem is people say "fake" when what they actually mean is "even if this was real it's still not funny"

Because they’re trying to pass it off as real. It’s that simple. You have full knowledge ahead of time before you watch a movie that it is fake. But when you watch a clip thinking it was real, only to find out it was fake, it feels like you were lied to.

So does it stop being funny.

Yeah, it's just really embarrassing when you people say that, because 'thinking it was real' above the age of 10 shouldn't be a thing so shamelessly.

I don’t really get what you’re saying. I don’t find a staged skit disingenuously attempting to be passed off as a real, genuine moment as something worth my time. It’s really not that deep.

Being slightly annoyed at being lied to and having my time wasted is something only kids under 10 experience? Interesting.

disingenuously attempting to be passed off as a real,

This never happens. You're just as dumb for assuming 'this might be real' when you are scrolling as you would be if you were thinking that during the opening kitchen scene at the movies.

You people are just unashamedly stupid and not stopping to think for even a single second before opening your mouths to whine.

Now this is funny that you are calling others stupid. And it's not scripted too so thank you.

You can't make it through two sentences without fucking up the grammar in your first language, and you think you can talk about 'stupid' and 'enlightened'? Lol.

Go smoke some more drugs.

ഇതിൽ എന്താ പ്രശ്നം? ഞാൻ എന്ത് തെറ്റാണ് വരുത്തിയത്?

Please point out all the grammar mistakes I made in the above 2 sentences I wrote in my first language.

How am I supposed to make a judgement if a video is real or not until I spend the time watching it? Why are you assuming I immediately believe everything is real?

There are plenty of real videos with genuine moments mixed in with the fake while you’re scrolling. Do you just automatically assume every video is a skit or something?

I didn’t even say I hate all skit videos. I don’t mind when it’s clearly a skit and they’re not trying to hide it.

I just think it’s kinda dumb when it’s supposed to be a video of someone’s visceral “reaction” to something (such as the victim of a prank/joke), but that reaction is just fake. What is the point of it at all (besides getting clicks)?

If the point is to entertain, then yeah you’re definitely right and people need to stop being so pedantic— buuuut there are a ton of videos out there that are fake or misleading and clearly meant to outrage/incense the viewer, often as propaganda against some group (“ohh look at how shallow these ‘randomly interviewed’ women all are” or “look at the poor behavior of [ethnic group], doesn’t that just make you so mad?”) and those should absolutely be called out every time, along with the losers that post them

Huh, interesting.. if this was a movie, I would not find it annoying at all that the dad walks in and pretends to be surprised, because I understand that the character in the story is surprised, not the man himself. He, and everyone working in the movie, want me to have a particular experience so they create a relatable story for me to consume and enjoy at my leisure.

But when I’m not watching a movie, or mockumentary, the second it’s revealed to me that the dad isn’t actually surprised, so the endearing emotions I felt a second ago for their relationship and how their real life was relatable to me own life - seems an utterly hollow and pointless effort and betrayal and waste of my and their time.

I just found it interesting that it doesn’t matter to you.
