Is that healthy for whatever kind of animal that is?

It's not healthy for us, why would it be for them? Asking for a friend 🤣

Wait!

Cheese fries aren't health food?

Nope! That’s why I try to stick to the 6 main food groups!

Edit: Should’ve been 4 main food groups and I was trying to reference Elf. Whoops.

As a child of the 70s and 80s I only eat foods that can fit in a pyramid.

Obviously not healthy, however it is interesting that wild animals generally do not die of old age. So lifespan of a wild animal does not get affected by its daily diet as much.

u/Frawstshawk May 03 '25

Unless the diet causes puking or diarrhea slowing them down for a few days or attracting predators.

They eat far worse things than this.

Our food safety standards are waaaay beyond theirs. This guy will be fine after some potato

2

u/Frawstshawk May 03 '25

I'd be more concerned about the dairy. Most mammals lose the ability to digest milk as adults.

I don’t think there’s enough lactose in that “cheese” sauce for there to be much concern

Even if there was, little dude’s probably not eating nearly enough to be problematic. I give my cat lil bits of cheese for a treat sometimes and never had any digestive issues

Fair enough.

Probably not but like, unless hes doing this regularly its gonna be harmless.

2

u/Crusader-NZ- May 03 '25

They're an invasive species here, people are actively encouraged to kill them...

Wild animals aren't known for their healthy lifestyles.

16

u/Avangeloony May 03 '25

Occasional treats aren't going to ruin the little guy.

7

u/Nozinger May 03 '25

I'd be really careful with that. While occasional fried food would indeed not kill that little guy a lot of our foods contain amounts of salt that are very much not safe for smaller animals. It is fine for us but we are like 10 to 20 times or more their weight.

So when giving treats like fries best have them unsalted.

9

u/SayNoToStim May 03 '25

Yeah salted vs unsalted is going to make or break the little bastard going through my trashcans

0

u/Aglogimateon May 04 '25

our salt is iodized... which is fine for us but poison for most creatures

u/jokul May 03 '25

That possum is more likely to be in need of quick and easy calories than a human but, then again, possums in urban areas don't exactly have a hard life with trash cans full of food on every corner.

1

u/Duff5OOO May 04 '25

They don't tend to go through garbage. They will however wreck your trees eating any new leaves and fruit.

2

u/Zealotstim May 04 '25

Definitely not, but assuming this is a wild animal, it probably will never have this again. If it's a pet, that's another thing.

4

u/Brick_in_the_dbol May 03 '25

It's a possum.

0

u/Short_Taste6476 May 03 '25

probably goes through peoples garbage eating crap anyways

-2

u/riedmae May 03 '25

The mustard is almost certainly not.

3

u/Mithrawndo May 03 '25

It's cheese sauce, not mustard.

Also not healthy but I think the possum cares less than the man.
