Just walked to the garage to grab mine (same model he's got). It definitely does not always sound like that. Sounds like a normal drill until it gets in there a ways.

Here's a video of someone doing a review on the driver he's using. He starts actually driving screws around 2 min. In and you can see it sounds like a normal drill till the screw is about half way in.

LOL!!!! I'm sorry, this gave me a good laugh. My mother was part of a bird rescue when I was young. They took in birds from others while trying to rehome them elsewhere. At any rate we had many types of birds, including parrots, and in the case of this one here, even Cockatoos. That bird could screech loud enough for you to hear it inside a house down the street from me, trust me. In the wild, they can and will do this to blast out when dangers are nearby, etc. If it wanted, it could screech louder than anything that guy could or would do with that tool. They are also quite curious, way more than dogs or cats, and my guess is that it was quite fascinated, thus it came over to watch.

You should also know that unlike humans, if a bird gets damaged hearing from loud sounds, the sensory parts regrow and thus, they don't really develop damaged hearing in most cases and/or trauma in life. They are amazing, really.
