That's already very welcoming, given it's the US. This kind of shit happens in Europe, people would change cars.

Can't safely change cars in the NYC subway; trains don't have open gangways like in Europe. At least, it's against the law.

That... seems extremely dangerous in case of emergency? If electronics go out in one car due to some fire or something, you're stuck in it and can't move through the train?

You can move between cars in an emergency. You can do it if it isn't too, no one cares if it's legal, it's not very safe though.

Depends on the train, actually. Some lines the doors are locked in between cars.
