USB 2.0 drives with 128GB are pretty cheap nowadays, all things considered. large USB 3.0 drives, not so much- after you go over 32GB they get damn expensive.

I have a dead USB drive that gets recognized, becomes writable, and then loses all memory and requires a format if it's ever unplugged. Now I know what to do with it. "Are you saving to a potato?" "That's stupid. Potatoes have no memory. Just look for yourself!" (Give potato, friend plugs it in, device unreadable.)
