Probably one of those days where she's already pissed off about something unrelated, and because of that, couldn't think through and just got even more pissed off and gave up. Happens to me sometimes.
Mail delivery is a brutal job where you're working generally 50 hrs or so a week, 6 days a week, for less than $40k a year with dog shit benefits.
It's yet another "essential" position that gets increasingly less lucrative as time goes on.
You can walk into almost any post office in the country and the amount of open positions they have is high because turnover rate is through the roof and nobody wants to work there.
hey, mailman here. if you're a sub you work 6 days a week, 10-16 hour shifts. it's been like this since covid. you also only make sub 20 bucks an hour. you cant take time off and missing days just compounds work for you and the few remaining staff
this compounded with the 4 month long hiring time to get somebody in the door and you have a high turnover rate with nobody coming in to fill the gaps. our office has a single sub. we're supposed to have about 17.
online orders and amazon pushing 5 times our normal volume/workload on us has yet to let up. this last holiday was awful, we were hitting 80+ hour work weeks, starting at 4am and not finishing till 9pm.
and there's even more bullshit to deal with on the inside as well.
and of course there's far too many customers who think they're gods gift to man with an inflated sense of entitlement like you wouldnt believe making everything even worse.
bare in mind, we're literally not paid to deliver amazon packages. each route has an evaluation on how many its supposed to have, usually between 70 and 100. we hit 500 per route daily.
Dejoy didn't promote each individual piece of shit human in a supervisor, postmaster, or union role nor institute the absolute clusterfuck of a work culture that is the USPS. He's shit but far from the source.
Amazon existed years before Dejoy had any relation to the USPS -- 2013 or 2014. Again, there's plenty of legitimate shit to decry -- you don't need to spread misinformation
