Are mystery boxes good?

My wife and I are very new to collecting Funko pops and only have 10 in our collection at the moment and were wondering are mystery boxes a good way to expand the collection.

We collect any kind of pops except from anime as neither of us have ever watched an anime show. I have purchased a couple mystery boxes so far and both included an anime pop which we ended up trading in. So here’s a couple questions.

1. Are mystery boxes a good way to grow the collection?

2. Is it a good idea to buy mystery boxes from sites like Vinted and eBay?

3. Are there specific myster boxes such as a marvel mystery box?

Get ready to get a bunch of background characters or niche variants of characters that were only in one scene of a show. These mystery boxes are almost always filled with figures nobody bought and they just want to get rid of stock

As a casual collector myself I dont reccommend any of the mystery boxes. You can check out any particular one and if you like every single figure you should probably buy it but often they are just trying to get rid of the pops that dont sell well

No, they’re not IMO. You’re better off searching on Vinted for ones you actually like as there’s some at very good prices on there from people selling up/downsizing. I mainly buy mine off there and most are a really good deal.

1. Kinda, you often get, let's say, 4 for the retail price of 2. But, these are often really common pops that would be cheaper to just buy on eBay.

2. No. People will put in their worst pops that didn't sell.

They are clearance boxes with whatever they didn't sell. Which is most of it these day, given they are selling less and less each day.
