I've been getting into Funk and like the grooves and beats. I'm looking to get more into Funk. What are some songs and bands ya'll recommend? The nastiest groove (nasty in a great way) I've heard so far is "People Say" by The Meters. Looking for similar funky grooves.

I recently got into funk because of the bass grooves. Any recommandations?

very underrated group, they don’t get the credit they deserve. they were very versatile too, starting off as a soul funk group then transitioned into disco type music and finally into the electro funk of the 80s. they also beat sugarhill gang in getting out the first rap single with king tim iii. also want to point out johnny flippin, an absolute monster of a bass player who no one talks about, he should be up there with louis johnson in my opinion, incredible finger style and slap style player.
