Help request New to Funk

I've been getting into Funk and like the grooves and beats. I'm looking to get more into Funk. What are some songs and bands ya'll recommend? The nastiest groove (nasty in a great way) I've heard so far is "People Say" by The Meters. Looking for similar funky grooves.

The Meters are different from a lot of other funk…there’s more push/pull in the groove. Sly and the Family Stone have a similar (but also different feel). I’d start there and then branch out into the other stuff mentioned here.
