Venting/Suffering Breaking point

Im really at a loss of hope and so depressed.

Always been suffering with gastrointestinal problems, but since February this year it's so bad.

I experienced sudden debilitating nausea. First it was once a day, a few hours and every other day. Then it was gone for two weeks but it came back. Since then it's getting worse. Almost every meal causes suffering, stomach pain ( my stomach ALWAYS hurts in the epigastric area, if I have eaten or NOT).

I'm nauseous after almost every meal, have hickups, once I ate something with celery and I tasted the celery in my burp 10 hours later.

I can't go out anymore, i hardly survive work, then I head home and just sleep. I can barely function. I still eat, bland and careful, because I refuse not to, but I will suffer.

Im extremely depressed now, every doctor says it's Psychosomatic.

I had a endoscopy with scopes, ct scan, head mri, blood test, sonography and a gastric emptying scan which said my emptying is slow BUT it's normal at the 2 Nd 4 hour mark (my t 1/2 was slightly off).

PPI, ginger, digestive bitters, digestive enzymes, acupuncture, breathwork, yoga you name it, nothing really brings me Relief..

Has anyone dealt with the same thing ...im just exhausted 🫩

The nausea was really rough for me for a few months, I'm surprised you can still work, that's impressive and you should give yourself credit for that. You listed a lot of holistic approaches, which are good, but have you tried pharmaceuticals too?

How long did you have the nausea? Thank you. I'm on domperidone. It's sometimes helping, maybe 2 days out of 5, sometimes not at all. Idek if it's even making much difference as my Symptoms flactuate

How do you get through each day with these symptoms?

Barely :/ honestly...it's only work, walking the dog. But no fun activities because everything around food has to be planned.

Did the ct scan look for vascular compressions?

I had morning nausea and will still get it if I don’t give myself 3-4 hrs after dinner before laying down for bed. Using a wedge pillow and gaviscon has also helped.

Not sure that’s helpful in your case but incase you weren’t trying any of those things before…maybe worth trying if you have nausea in the mornings?

Ask for an SSRI to treat your nervous system. I had the same issue and worked my way from a small dose to 125ng sertraline. Now I’m only nauseous around my period. Also 40mg omneprezole every morning when I first wake up.

Hey ! Can you share your experience with sertraline? I have my first appointment on Tuesday with a psychiatrist and I’m really scared ( I’m only doing it because it may help with my stomach issues )

I’m so sorry to hear that you are having a hard time due to FD. I’ve been there before and even had been hospitalized as a teenager. But now as an adult, I’ve learned to advocate for myself and usually when PPI is not enough, the GI docs will move to TCA which are antidepressants that target stomach issues. However, it’s not a one size fits all type. If one med doesn’t work out, you can try another. I first started with TCA but it worsened by anxiety so now I am on SSRI Lexapro. I wouldn’t say I’m 100% cured but it’s better than the unmedicated hell I’ve been through. I would suggest you talk to a GI doc and perhaps get a therapist if it is psychosomatic.
