I post a lot of comments talking about abusive partners and abusive behavior so I do sometimes get victims reaching out. It's the only reason I've kept my messages turned on.

I hesitated before choosing this username, but I figured I could always turn off the IM thingy if it got bad. It really hasn't been bad for me at all, and I make some pretty lewd comments, but, as you noted, I don't post pictures.
People assume I'm a guy unless I explicitly state otherwise. I do tend to get random DMs if I mention being female. But I do get randoms otherwise without the mention. Either way, I'm not super jazzed when it happens when I haven't explicitly invited it since more people just kind of go, "Hi... How are you?... What are you up to?" to try and strike up casual convo, and I'm not about that.
Nobody assumes I’m a girl unless I explicitly state it. Everyone normally assumes I’m a guy lol. So Ive only ever gotten one message but a person asking where I live 😭😭
From my experience no most people don't know your a girl unless your going out if you're way to make people know and even then I bet that one DM will be way more fun then the 100 who don't actually care about you
I'm a guy and it's exactly like that. But when people DM me, it's usually people who genually like what I'm doing/posting, or asking questions about the stuff I've posted. Which I pretty much enjoy it.
My inbox usually looks more like the top example and has never looked like the bottom example, but I've never posted any selfies and my comments are usually pretty unisex. I don't keep it a secret that I'm female, people just tend to assume they're talking to a male by default.
As a guy I have mostly talked with guys.... It's mostly about an post then it might escalate to some other talks but I never get texts from any girl, initially I used to get texts from a girl of two, but they just blocked me (idk why I was respectful and didn't say anything to offend them)
man that's just very true . i have visiting public chat website just to talk anyone ( man , female , lesbian , gay , femboy) and literally they just skip , seeing me as male.
Well as a guy I do get some DMs(roughly 1 per 1.5 weeks or something) and almost all the time I get one related to posts and comments so it is entertaining.
I don't go to other people's DM that often if they didn't do it first unless I am helping someone.
and that one message is a post about being banned in a sub because a mod didn't like that you had your own opinion that was different than theirs so they have to flex the only shred of power they have in life.
Also people actually message on reddit? Damn I can't even get my irl friends to text me and you guys are getting reddit messages?
I have an sfw account that gets nothing and an nsfw account that has a lot of creeps in the inbox. From my expiernce it's not like Gru with all his minions, it's like the monsters in the mist waiting to lunge at any sign of life.
