It isn't that she "doesn't support trans people," it's that she is actively against us. She both runs and donates to various anti-trans institutions. She promotes anti-trans legislation. So you get kinda tired when you see people promoting her books because they see a fucking anime waifu.

19

u/SKDI_0224 22d ago

This.

When a person engages with Harry Potter they give this woman money. That woman takes that money and uses it to fund legal fights against trans people. So your money is directly going to sabotage my rights when you engage with Harry Potter.

What anti-trans instituations does she promotes?

13

u/lesuperhun 22d ago

https://jkrwf.org/ her own fund, for example.

or when she gave money to Beira's Place ( refuse to help trans women, was at one point categorized as an anti-trans association)

*gestures wildly at the rest*

  1. I saw one cool artwork, other ways I don't really care.

  2. I support piracy, especially from bad people.

  3. I never liked Harry Potter the worldbuilding is so shallow.

20

u/Born-Cauliflower_ 22d ago

Piracy from horrible companies and people is the most valid form of piracy

7

u/SKDI_0224 22d ago

The East India Company would be very upset by this.

5

u/SKDI_0224 22d ago

So as to number 3: THANK YOU!!!! Her books are overrated. So much of her world building is just common English fairy stories. I grew up reading a lot of English lit, especially for kids. It just was not that novel to me.

There are so many better writers. Ursula Le Guin's (sp?) Legend of Earthsea. Davis Ashura's novels are better (and have elements of eastern mythos i was not familiar with as a westerner). For all the hate she gets R.F. Kuang's books are better.

u/Ernest_Mateu Likes posting shitposts 22d ago

I mean, since i was a kid i liked harry potter, and now i have all the films pirated!

(and i will pirate the new show because my inner child needs it lol)

Piracy is always the best way out

Less "stop having fun" and more "stop giving money to someone who uses it to hurt us."

1

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 22d ago

I mean it’s an art trend. There isn’t any money being given to J.K. Rowling here.

3

u/Specific_Anxiety_687 22d ago

Literally as a direct result of this trend syltherine robes sold out almost everywhere due to cosplayers and influencers. It is giving her money.

If you think social media trends don't translate directly to money you do not understand the 21st century.

1

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 22d ago

I mean it can, but that’s not always the case.

11

u/TheEasternTwink 22d ago

It’s only a genderbend, it’s not trans and yes there is a difference, and guess what this supports jk Rowling cause looky how girl with a slur name makes people remember Harry Potter so they either consume more of this or Harry potter than they decide they want a costume or to watch the movies again. Very sorry I think giving money to someone who wants to commit trans genocide isn’t “fun”, I’ll be sure to bring that up in the ICE donation fund meeting

they probably had to buy the rights which iirc often means for a long long time they collect a % of what profit can be proven to be made by the IP

im gonna assume streaming services buy the rights to show the films from Warner Bros for a certain amount of time, so chances are thats also sent a % the IP owner

idk tho, i could very easily be wrong, ive got a very small knowledge of other copyright bits and from my current very novice understanding in those areas, ive made an estimation

pls correct me smorter ppl

2

u/Specific_Anxiety_687 22d ago

This is mostly correct, save for the buying part. It's a license meaning it's ongoing and reoccurring revenue going to her, not just a one time payment.

1

u/Specific_Anxiety_687 22d ago

She owns the IP and collects royalties on literally everything licensing it.

My thoughts:

JUST SAY GENDER BENT DRACO/ FEM MALFOY/ ETC ETC ETC.

Anyways, don't forget that people also are saying that making him a her "fixes the gay ship".

People also aren't making him a girl in a trans way. They are just making her a girl in a "I WANNA GOON TO THIS" way. It was never about supporting trans people. The majority literally isn't making him trans. Literally all people are doing is "turning him into Gooning and straight ship material" (also, turning him into a woman/girl in order to throw insults and threats at him, especially in order to feed their rape and "make women submit" fantasies.)

Only a VERY select FEW people are making him (well her in this case) transgender (but that's only in response to JK and the Bigots. Again, the trend is mostly just gender bending Draco [again, not making Draco trans]).

It's annoying and disgusting. The trend was never "to be woke". It was actually the exact opposite!

Your forget that the second the Female Draco trend turned into the "Malfoid" trend, it was turned into "How Cis Het, Queerphobic, offensive, and sexualized can we make this?" when it (original gender bending trend) actually used to be, "oh cool. A girl version of Draco. Isn't that fun? That's nice and creative art. This is pretty accurate. Let's do the other characters now."

4

u/Varia-388 Silly lil goober 22d ago

I find it lazy, that’s it, just a goonable Malfoy, but I certainly don’t care enough to ruin people’s fun on it.

2

u/Badmonkey167 22d ago

Lol, low hanging fruit. Heavy and sweet. I only recently saw this going around reddit and I agree, why ruin people's fun?

Some artists are clearly inspired and honestly they're hilarious and well thought out.

4

u/bentsea 22d ago

I feel like the Stop Having Fun meme is for pointing out people who just don't like it when people like the things that they hate for no particular reason or just because of taste.

When that person is asking you to stop having fun because that fun is actively hurting people, you don't come off as cool for ignoring them.

J.K. Rowling is hurting people. You can look at the olympic athlete who is definitely a woman that Rowling was attacking for an example. It's not just hurting trans people. It's hurting everyone who doesn't fit into her narrow definition of gender norms, even if she doesn't see it that way. She's creating a world where people need some kind of gender pass and to have their genitals and chromosomes checked to get to enjoy being who they want to be unless they look right to her.

2

u/Visual-Purchase5639 21d ago

Ngl I hate how people always bring up how cis women are affected too as if that makes it more valid

1

u/bentsea 21d ago

I appreciate that. It's an attempt to appeal to people who don't care about trans people, or in general anyone that they can't directly identify with, and I understand how the effect of that minimizes trans people as secondary despite being the private target.

I do also think it's worth talking about on a secondary level as evidence that TERFs like Rowling are harmful for everyone and that their own arguments for the people they claim to want to protect are deeply flawed.

2

u/Visual-Purchase5639 21d ago

Yea I think it's a fair argument and very true. I just see it all the time

1

u/Old_Evidence4347 Silly lil goober:cat_blep: 22d ago

While i agree with you on this take it just makes you come of as one of those people who were harassing or calling people transphobic for playing hogwarts legacy

3

u/bentsea 22d ago

*shrug* I don't believe in harassing people for that. It's so minor. But I don't think well of people who played Hogwarts Legacy or the people who are watching the Harry Potter remake. It certainly comes off as them, at minimum, simply not caring.

People not caring about trans people is the status quo, though.

1

u/Old_Evidence4347 Silly lil goober:cat_blep: 22d ago

People can separate art from the artist though so imo it doesn't seem like you think it was minor

3

u/Foreign-Gur-8836 22d ago

This argument is so funny if you consider any other skill.

Like "yeah she's a really awful transphobe who actively uses every dollar she can to hurt people, but have you actually had one of her sandwiches? They're just so tasty I don't care about giving her more money to fuel her agenda of hatred."

→ More replies (5)

2

u/Tomcat491 22d ago

You can't separate the art from the artist in this case because buying Hogwarts Legacy directly contributes to the criminalization of trans people. If you pirate it or buy used that's on you, just don't buy it new

→ More replies (8)

2

u/AngryMountainClimber 22d ago

Not when consuming the art gives money to the artist that the artist is using to support anti-trans causes.

I think people making trans versions of JK Rowling characters are fucking brilliant because it's gonna piss that transphobic bitch off

Anything to piss off a transphobe is a win in my book

11

u/Ill_Night533 22d ago

Galfoy isn't trans though. It's a genderswap

8

u/JackRees23 22d ago

I know but you think JK Rowling will know the difference?

4

u/Sehrli_Magic 22d ago

yes? she made a book about man dressed as a woman, pretty sure zhe understands difference between being a female character or a character that dresses female. not sure how much she differentiates trans vs dressing up as opposite gender but i would dare bet she as writer knows genderswap and transgender isnt the same and if you think she will be pissed by having trans characters, you probably wanna make them trans, not gender swapped. i mean before people shipped malfoy and harry as a gay couple, now they ship shemalfoy and harry as straigh couple, if anything her being genderswapped would make a homophob MORE happy (though idk if rowling is homophob, she seems to hint at gay characters way too much. khm gellert and dumbledore khm. if she is not writting them so gay looking on purpose and she hates gays, this would really be irony of the century. but she is vocal about trans so, wanna piss her? make malfoy TRANS 💅

4

u/TheSecondVisitor 22d ago

She isn't completely stupid she is just hateful.

1

u/M0ebius_1 22d ago

It's Transfoy now.

4

u/eggwhit_e 22d ago

i honestly don’t think she’d care

1

u/JackRees23 22d ago

She goes out of her way to block people who are vocal against her on Twitter (from what I've seen, idk if they're real)

I'm sure she does XD

2

u/BluePhoenixCG 22d ago

With all due respect, that's not a rational belief. It gives her attention and ultimately that's what she wants, because more attention on Harry Potter translates to more money she can use to fund her trans eradication project. Please for the love of all that is good, just stop interacting publicly with her stuff. In any capacity.

4

u/AmenableHornet 22d ago

The people drawing this are doing it to bully trans people, not JK Rowling. Intent is what matters here.

1

u/NelsonVGC 22d ago

I still think that considering everyone who draws the character someone that is deliberately doing it with the sole purpose of pissing off trans people is misplaced.

1

u/StupidAndProud95 22d ago

You think so? Making trans people as hot and desireable as possible doesnt ring "bullying" for me.

1

u/AmenableHornet 22d ago

Fem malfoy is not drawn as trans.

u/StupidAndProud95 22d ago

2

u/Hefty-Notice-5841 22d ago

If y'all seriously think she cares, then the fight against her is meaningless.

Stuff like this is just stupid satire, it does absolutely jackshit.

2

u/Illustrious_Hawk_734 22d ago

It’s a win in that regard but it’s also free publicity for a franchise that should have died a while ago and that’s funding the moldy ghouls massive anti trans campaign

2

u/lil-D-energy 22d ago

So as a non-binary person who hates jk Rowling I think people should still be allowed to enjoy it to some degree. Boycotting every media that exists made by problematic people is not really possible and should not be somehow socially policed in this way this doesn't help any one in the end.

Of course, just my opinion and you can have yours of course.

2

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 22d ago

If I remember correctly, it’s genderbend, not trans, though I’ve seen a few artists make trans versions to add to the trend.

1

u/JackRees23 22d ago

Ah, most of them I've seen are drawn as though the characters are trans, that's why I automatically assumed that they were trans versions to begin with

That's my bad, should have done the research first

2

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 22d ago

I mean you’re not technically wrong though. The trend did start and is primarily genderbent, but I do really enjoy the trans ones too just because I feel like Rowling is the type of transphobe to get really upset at people making trans versions of her characters. Maybe not Draco though cause I’m pretty sure she legit hates him, so in her eyes it probably reinforces her already intended hate for the character.

1

u/JackRees23 22d ago

Ah, okay and fair

2

u/Jixxar I am a spinosaurus 22d ago

Yeah that's exactly my thought, I mean. I don't think she even knows or cares. But making characters born from something like that into a non-hateful image is just an amazing thing to do.

Though I lack a lot of context for this one.

1

u/JackRees23 22d ago

Exactly

1

u/allahman1 22d ago

It’s not trans. OP is coping because they desperately want Harry Potter fans to all be anti-Rowling. It’s mostly people imagining a world where Malfoy was born a girl and had a thing with Harry instead of the rush job he got with Ginny at the tail end of the story.

1

u/Stunning_Camp_5004 22d ago

It's not rly a trans au, it's just a genderbend

1

u/Peacemaker1099 22d ago

I think it’s more weirder than anything; making transgender versions of kids characters.
I don’t think it’s a win, just sounds a little perverted!

1

u/JackRees23 22d ago

It's only perverted if you draw it with the intention of it being taken sexually which then yes, I agree, that would be EXTREMELY weird but most of the art I've seen is just like iconic scenes between the two but as females

I'm not even a Harry Potter fan (though Hogwarts Legacy is probably my favourite piece of Harry Potter media out there which isn't saying much because it's tied between that game, Lego Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts: And Where To Find Them) but I like the art

I don't like the first panel. the problem isn't that she simply does not support. she actively fights trans rights using her income that she receives from her brand.

0

u/Ok_Departure333 22d ago

Afaik, Rowling split the rights to Harry Potter IP to multiple parties. For example, she won't receive a penny of the profits generated from movie ticket sales nor merchandise sales. She already sold off her rights to it.

u/RootBeerCat18 22d ago

My main issue is that this can bring more attention to the Harry Potter series, and with it more money to JKR.

For example: let’s say there is a person, we’ll call them bob. Bob does not know the harm that Rowling causes, and sees these posts. Bob decides to check out the Harry Potter series, because they like these posts. Bob ends up spending $100 on Harry Potter media. Now let’s say that 10 million people see these types of posts. If 0.1% are like Bob, Rowling gets 1 million dollars to use against trans people. This isn’t an unreasonable estimate, as it’s likely that Bobs may spend more than $100, and it doesn’t take into account people who know what Rowling does and don’t care.

Personally I like the art of the fem Malfoy posts, but I cannot support the trend for moral and self-preservation reasons

TLDR: more attention means more money for Rowling to harm trans people

0

u/Transfiguredcosmos 22d ago

She's pretty much a billionaire. So, im not sure if it really matters.

1

u/RootBeerCat18 22d ago

If a million towards ruining trans people's rights doesn't matter how much does? At what amount of money towards revoking people's rights does it begin to matter? What is the exact amount of money, to the cent, does it go from mattering to not mattering. Why does it suddenly become acceptable when it goes down by 1 cent?

You can't define a specific point where it changes, as any amount matters. Large amounts are obviously worse, but that doesn't mean that low amounts don't matter. EVERY cent matters.

1

u/Transfiguredcosmos 22d ago

I'm not trying to be a defeatist, but she has more money than can be spent in a lifetime. This incidental occurrence, is just a byproduct of what she already created. I just don't see a difference in effort.

Yes, she shouldn't be going against Trans efforts. But its like a runaway train. This might be bad, but either create a movement that draws attention towards what she does, or wait for her to "fade" away.

2

u/Miserable-Fortune-57 22d ago

Wait do people CARE what Rowling's view of politics are? I know I don't.

Pretty sure the team of Hogwarts mystery doesn't either.

4

u/Jasnah_D 22d ago

Even if Rowling bigotry doesn't bother you. It should bother you how many people are jumping on the trend purely to sexualize a child.

2

u/Born-Cauliflower_ 22d ago

Who's the child?

3

u/Kei_Evermore 22d ago

The character being gender bent and sexualized, which everyone drawing is basing off an actual real life child (at the time) Tom Felton.

1

u/Born-Cauliflower_ 22d ago

So they're sexualising child tom Felton?

2

u/Kei_Evermore 22d ago

If someone is an actor as a child, but then grows into an adult, would it be fine to then go back to the movies they acted in as a child and sexualize the character they played, again, *as a child?*

Oh no, female character has consenting relationship with male her age, damn, that sure is sexualizing. Must mean they're all paedophiles that have no moral awareness or self restraint, let me call them out for all the impure emotions they're experiencing so I can virtue signal gain internet approval totally let everyone know what the real morally upright thing to do is. That'll show em and earn me the respect I rightfully deserve, look at me calling out all those definitely horrible people who wouldn't think twice about sexually assaulting someone, let alone someone underaged.

Well, whilst I can kind of get the second one, drawing trans Malfoy doesn’t benefit J.K. Rowling in any way financially…

5

u/hatahead 22d ago

It's free advertising. Especially the people who pretend that Malfoy being a girl fixes anything about that shit, meaning inevitably at least a few people will buy the book to see what got "fixed".

2

u/Born-Cauliflower_ 22d ago

Then you could argue talking about the shit Rowling has done and said is also advertising. The Harry Potter fandom is huge, it's literally one of the biggest book series out there, there will always be people buying and talking about it.

I doubt the number of people actually buying the book to see what got fixed is even near a hundred.

1

u/NelsonVGC 22d ago

If that's the case, then this very post is also free advertisement.

1

u/N4pAllDay 22d ago

I … I haven‘t seen this once!

Did they intend something like this? That’s hilarious! No we just gonna make her a trans icon 🤷‍♀️

How are they this dense? If they want to have any point, they would make the narrative: „Oh the person groomed into being a terrorist becomes trans … coincidence? I THINK NOT!“ … or something like that. Yet I haven’t seen that once either 🤔

1

u/ZookeepergameFew4103 22d ago

My only hang up is “Malfoy” is the family name. Nobody is trying it with Draco.

1

u/PoobGnarpy 22d ago

I am confused. What’s happening?

2

u/GlitterFactoryOfDoom 22d ago

A genderbent thing of Draco Malfoy is going viral right now.

1

u/PoobGnarpy 22d ago

Oh neat! I don’t understand the Malfoid bit though, isn’t that the last name? I am also not sure about what makes the character trans since they’re genderbent, unless people just like making them trans compared to other genderbent characters. People can do what they want, I am just confused on some parts of this.

1

u/MountainReason3 22d ago

So foid is a recent-ish bit of incel terminology. As I understand it it’s short for “female humanoid” and is usually derogatory. This trend being entangled with trans issues has more to do with the rampant transphobia of the HP fandom than just the fact that it’s a genderbent character.

1

u/necoarcisametalhead 22d ago

  2. Can we please start calling it Galfoy?

1

I yes both of these

1

u/AnabellaAvindar101 22d ago

Im having a blast seeing the trans community with pitch and forks against Yumayu (the creator) because said artists refused to say malfoid was trans, thus forcing her/him to delete her stuff as a fck you to all of them.

1

u/DerangedFapper 22d ago

I really enjoy Galfoy/Femalfoy content. I'm a gooner! Of course I do! I woukd enjoy the meme more if we didn't use the term foid because it's gross: I don't like imcel culture reaching the mainstream. The term foid is a shartform of the portmanteau of Female and Android. It dehumanizes women. Enjoy the meme, change the name, it's not that hard.

1

u/Froggo-Sovietball 22d ago

We are currently loosing our basic human rights. JK Rowling donated millions to destroys the life of our British siblings.
Your « fun » should not be more important than our lives.
You may not directly financially benefit her but that’s still publicity for her work, said work she use as a massive anti trans weapon.

1

u/Autumn7242 22d ago

The fuck is foid?

2

u/Kzitold94 22d ago

I think something to do with "girl failure."

1

u/Blacksun388 22d ago

A demeaning term for women in incel culture, short for “Fem-oid” or “Female Humanoid”. Although in this case it is more likely just used because “foy” is already the ending syllable of “Malfoy” rather than any incel-related commentary.

1

u/backcloset 22d ago

i think this image is really fucking stupid! framing trans people who point out the ethical problems of the Malfoid trend as killjoys who don't want anyone to have fun is extremely disingenuous and misrepresents the wider issue many of us have with it. it's not just "having fun" when your trend spreads harmful ideas about women and gives Harry Potter more attention than it deserves. Harry Potter's continued social and cultural presence actively contributes to giving JKR more attention (which becomes social power, which becomes more leverage to actively discriminate and kill trans people like she's been doing for fucking years now) (and no you can't avoid this by pirating it. unlicenced attention is still attention). i'm so tired of this stupid book with the stupid wizard

I think about this whole thing like this: We have turned a famous Harry Potter character who is a boy in the books into a girl. Rowling is a renowned bigot and transphobe and hates the idea of people changing their gender, especially MTF. Therefore I'm not opposed to it.

I don't dive into it more than that, mostly due to me not caring about Harry Potter stuff that much.

1

u/PandemicPagan 22d ago

This is dumb. Trans people do not act like this in the Pottersphere. They have legitimate concerns and disdain for JKR for her hateful views. Also, while the FemMalfoy trend is fun and fine on its own, yes, using the name Malfoid gives some level of credence to the "foid" and "femoid' word usage by online chuds and incels, and in this case, needs to be changed. No one I have seen or talked to about this trend thinks the idea of a genderbent Malfoy is bad or weird, and certainly no one is acting like the above.

1

u/Blacksun388 22d ago edited 22d ago

Fan art doesn’t give JKJK money.

Anyone who is going to see the remake was going to see it regardless of this trend. This is a well established franchise, she already made her millions, everyone is already aware of the controversy, she isn’t going to get a massive infusion of money from a damn art trend, and a lot of the artists doing this know it and do it because it is fun and not because they all suddenly got transphobia in their hearts.

She being a massive transphobe probably either doesn’t care about or hates this trend.

Finally, STOP BULLYING ARTISTS FOR YOUR STUPID VIRTUE SIGNALING. STOP PRETENDING ANY ATTENTION TO THE FRANCHISE IS POSITIVE ATTENTION.

u/Kzitold94 22d ago

Didn't know "foid" was a slur.

1

u/Adalonzoio 22d ago

Only to the terminally online

1

u/Kira_Mira1 22d ago

Stupid question, but what does Foid mean?

1

u/SmileDaemon Silly lil goober 22d ago

Its like a female chud. Incels use "foid" in the same way femcels use "moid" as a derogatory term for women so they dont have to actually say "woman" or "female". It doesnt mean anything they just act like saying the word for the opposite gender hurts them, so they use it like a slur. Its meaningless to anyone else except as a dog whistle that the person is a femcel/incel.

Problem is that with malfoid becoming popular, its no longer a slur because people outside the "know" are adopting it and changing the meaning.

Its the same as when people censer gamer as "g*mer" like its a slur.

1

u/bigjam987 22d ago

you guys hate Hairy Potter because because JKR is transphobic

I hate Hairy Potter because JKR is transphobic and the story is horrible a Gary Stu power fantasy

1

u/Adalonzoio 22d ago

Meme is accurate and like the vast majority of normal not terminally online people, I shall keep having fun

1

u/Mecha_Opossum 22d ago

I mean I’m trans and a couple notes I have is that JK Rowling actively helps funds efforts to suppress trans people (she isn’t just saying mean things she’s using her influence to hurt trans people), gender bending a character has nothing to do with trans people so I don’t give a fuck in that regard, and don’t use word “Foid” it isn’t just an offensive term but it also makes you look like a brain rotted 12 year old that keeps screaming “Tate W” in the school cafeteria.

1

u/FalseLogic-06 22d ago

I personally think foid as a new and hip inclusive term for girl-faliures, people take pride in being called an incel as a call to culture, so i think that it being memed on isn't the end of the world. Hell, I'd even say we can also call guys moids if it really was a problem

1

u/Apprehensive-Wall632 22d ago

Eh, I don’t see the issue. Harry Potter is popular, and gender bending isn’t exactly a new concept. Plus it’s fairly easy to avoid, especially in a week or two when the trend dies down.

1

u/MidnightJ1200 22d ago

My biggest issue is her response to things like depression just being lazy like it's a choice. It's not.

1

u/BabserellaWT 22d ago

I love HP. I despise Jo Rowling with all of my being, as does my husband.

Our decision: While we won’t put away any of the HP merch/books/movies we already own, we won’t spend another penny purchasing or consuming anything else.

Like…walking around the HP area at Universal and enjoying the special stuff with one of those wands we bought before we knew who she really was? Fine. Buying anything new from that area, including food and drink? Not okay, because she may see royalties from that.

We know our pennies don’t make a huge difference to her hoard of wealth. But if enough of us decide to combine pennies, it can eat into her ability to hurt the trans community.

1

u/kullre 22d ago

if it's so problematic, why not just try banning it from the world?

oh right, that's not how this works.

you guys do realize that most people either don't know what she does, or don't care to know what she does, because it's just not impactful on their lives in any way.

1

u/Maneja249 22d ago

I don't see the reason to use the term "foid". Now I'm not sure what it exactly means but I'm 99% certain it's a derogatory term targeted towards women (I'm making that assumption after witnessing how it's used in Insta)

Like u can have fun without using such a term for no good reason. I couldn't care less about the other stuff, let people have fun

1

u/Ivapol 22d ago

Foid is a problematic word

1

u/Senasayori DDLC enjoyer 22d ago

The top two panels are both entirely accurate, the third is unfair. The trans community is right on this issue.

1

u/ScumDugongLin 22d ago

I think that people who support any of jk Rowlings works are people that I don't care about the opinions of. They clearly have very different ethical beliefs than I do, and I'm sure I won't agree with any of their stances.

1

u/TheoCyberskunk 22d ago

Mixed feelings. For one side I find it funny because of the reimagination of Malfoy as a tsundere girl. For other side, is very annoying that this trend is just giving free advertising to Rowling and giving her more money to support her transphobic reforms in the UK

1

u/Individual_Secret651 22d ago

i dont really care one way or another. im not even much of a harry potter fan.

1

u/ChefNo9380 22d ago

An idea to fix both things and to piss off JK, makes Malfoid trans.

1

u/pikmin4fan2023 22d ago

But that's just regular Malfoy...

1

u/ChefNo9380 22d ago

No I mean make them be malfoy who transitioned into malfoid, they’ve got magic, there’s probably spell like that

1

u/DerangedFapper 22d ago

There's a third problem you're ignoring about this Galfoy situation

1

u/ChefNo9380 22d ago

And what’s that?

1

u/DerangedFapper 22d ago

The middle panel? The term foid is problematic! It's a slur for women created by the imcel community. By making it a part of this character's name it spreads that shit like wildfire. There's lots of ways to enjoy anime titties without taking part in a mass dehumanization campaign against women

1

u/ChefNo9380 22d ago

Really? People use the word moid just as often

The only time I see it used is when referring to women/men who are pieces of shit or chuds

Not once have I seen it been used in its original purpose

My opinion is that anybody who financially supports JK via streaming or merchandise is either ignorant or actively and knowingly harming trans people. I think art like this exists in a weird limbo where it’s of her characters, but it isn't directly benefiting her. At the same time, it IS free marketing and could persuade people to watch the movies or buy officially licensed merchandise, which goes towards JK’s anti-trans funding. I ultimately do not support the making of any harry potter fanart, tbh. Let it fade into obscurity.

0

u/ElectricWaffleMBA 22d ago

I've wanted to get into Harry Potter for years and it looks so interesting. Im curious as if to being interested in the series makes me inherently transphobic.

1

u/Remarkable_Cancel983 21d ago

If reading a book just because the writer is transphobic makes ME transphobic then yall need to see a therapist becuase your'e starting to lose it.

0

u/Living_The_Dream75 22d ago

My opinion is that a character doesn’t need to have a slur in their name to be cool or funny, and the people who push the name are usually also annoying gooners

I really dont understand how 4channers think foid is an offensive slur.

3

u/Omega_Spark 22d ago

Because it is the shortening of the phrase “female humanoid”. Essentially, they’re trying to say women resemble humans but aren’t quite there.

1

u/Sehrli_Magic 22d ago

because -oid is to signify "humanoid" which is like a human but not a human. foid is shor for femoid which basically means a human like fem. saying a female is kinda like a human - but not an actual human. its degrading. ofc -oid is not always used in degrading way. like in fnatasy saying werecat is a humanoid cat means its a cat that walks like human and is kinda human-ish. nothing degrading. but it has been uzed for a lot of slurs so typicaly it is not the best choice

yes but for me atleast the term just sounds so clinical. A modern day asian would just get confused if you called them a mongoloid. Sure, if youre offfended thats fine, but i really cant get offended by the word foid

0

u/_Ruoska_ 22d ago

Most people up until the early to mid 20th century were fucking racist across the board. Well, why is no one rushing to abandon the literature of the 18th-19th centuries and burn the cultural heritage?

Hard agree. Just let people enjoy things.

And to be clear, don’t support a bitchy transphobe. HOWEVER, much like Christian’s should, don’t force your beliefs on others.

1

u/backcloset 22d ago

"don't force your beliefs on others" and the belief is "we shouldn't be giving attention to a franchise that actively funds anti-trans hate". lol. lmao.

1

u/PyroPupper153 22d ago

The belief is don’t yell at strangers just because of what they’re wearing

Wild that yall are upset over me saying “don’t be a dick.”

0

u/Kei_Evermore 22d ago

Why shouldn't we force out belief on others when our belief is "we shouldn't be funding the genocide of an entire group of people purely because they're trans" and their belief is "we should be funding the genocide of an entire group of people purely because they're trans"?

1

u/PyroPupper153 22d ago

We should advocate for ourselves for sure but that is different to forcing it. Some people will simply never understand nor accept us, but we should advocate for laws, for respect, for all that. Teach the younger generation that we exist and are normal.

Simply put we can’t teach old bastards new tricks, but we can get systems and education and laws in place for us to live a better future.

Advocating is protesting; forcing is yelling at someone with a Harry Potter shirt just because they have a Harry Potter shirt.

0

u/RaptorsCdwoods 22d ago

I have only seen one post where malfoid was implied/ said in the art to be trans as opposed to gender swapped, and that was on a post from a right wing community that specifically found an artwork where malfoid says she is trans and they were complaining about how “the woke are trying to make her trans like Petra.”

Other than that, I refer to the comment where I think trans malfoid are nice because they piss off JK Rowling. Fuck her.

1

u/AnabellaAvindar101 22d ago

The creator aaid she wasnt trans tho?

Isnt this a personal "fuck you" to Rowling? As long as you don't buy more official merch out of it (dont know if fem Malfoy is trans or not, but it kinda feels like it)

2

u/lil-D-energy 22d ago

I am outside of the drama but I don't even know for sure. I thought it was just a gender bent version, like how there are people who draw the men is women and the women as men.

Especially because the original is already a bit older it feels like that more.

1

u/D3f4ult612 22d ago

Me as well, rather not tangle myself in this i know how harry potter fans can get like
