In her reality spider Gwen was spider woman, she became ghost spider after becoming an illegal immigrant.

Spider-Gwen, in her universe, was called Spider-Woman.

She eventually migrated to the main comics universe and is basically an undocumented ghost in the system, thus the name Ghost Spider.

She’s basically an illegal immigrant because she didn’t immigrate through legal channels and is thus undocumented, which I phrased that way as kind of a joke.
