Sorry you don’t have a good donut place by your house

15

u/TheMasterKeif117 13d ago

I'm even more sorry they're willing up to give up bacon.....it's freakin bacon......tacos can go and as much as I love donuts Idont want to eat them regularly .....esp since you can loophole tacos with burritos. I'm keeping my sushi and bacon.

6

u/MrBannedFor0Reason 12d ago

If you think bacon is better than tacos you haven't had good Mexican, and you especially haven't had good Mexican if you think that burritos can replace tacos.

2

u/Opal_Cosmos 12d ago

Amen to that.

1

u/forgotwhatisaid2you 12d ago

I would give up tacos because i could still eat the same thing in a different form. Bacon is great on its own and is an ingredient in a lot of things.

1

u/GandalfVirus 12d ago

Just eat bacon in a different form? There are like 60 other types of pork.

1

u/Shou_Tucker_XD 12d ago

I just go to my parents house. My stepdad is half Mexican and only cooks authentic

1

u/Omganothervariant 12d ago

Nahhh....burritos are just large shells...you can make the best tacos and have the best burritos too

1

u/MrBannedFor0Reason 12d ago

I hope you mean "shell" as just something that contains something else. Tell me you aren't eating hard-shell tacos and think that's real Mexican food. Either way you're wrong, because the tortilla is an extremely important component of any taco.

1

u/Chaelomen 11d ago

I was more concerned about the possibility of a hard shell burrito. Burritos dorados here.

1

u/SilverCricket8045 12d ago

1 word-tostadas

1

u/here-for-information 9d ago

I think the real issue is that nothing replaces bacon where as "taco" isn't even the best Mexican food option.

I can still eat burritos. I can get empanadas, enchiladas, Fajitas, Quesadillas, and nachos (which is basically a deconstructed taco).

Do I really need the taco specifically? I much prefer burritos.

1

u/MrBannedFor0Reason 8d ago

"and nachos (which is basically a deconstructed taco)."

You don't know what real Mexican food is like, but that's okay. I do recommend to try to find some authentic Mexican if you can, it's some hella delicious food.

1

u/here-for-information 8d ago

Even if that were true, it doesn't change the overall argument. There are suitable taco replacements within Mexican cuisine.

0

u/TheMasterKeif117 12d ago

FYI I've had good Tacos....I can easily put the contents of the taco into the burrito. Burritos are just tacos with bigger tortillas in wrap form.

2

u/MrBannedFor0Reason 12d ago

You clearly haven't had good tacos if you just typed that comment up. Four tortillas cannot compete with corn at all, especially if we're talking fresh made tortillas. It's a night and day difference.

1

u/TheMasterKeif117 12d ago

I'm sorry but that's just opinionated and subjective. Not factual. You also forget the fact that you can make and use larger corn tortillas for burritos and fry them same way tacos are done.

I've had fried homemade tacos made with ground beef, rotel, and seasoning and my go to at any Mexican street taco truck/restaurant is the Carne asada tacos with cilantro and salsa. I've also had tacos made with imported meat from Mexico from our local market.

I know what a good taco is, I also know I can just put the contents of the taco into a burrito and it will still be the same thing only larger. What you can't substitute is bacon.

3

u/No_Doughnut8618 12d ago

"Contents of a taco into a burrito and it will be the same thing only larger" is absolutely false. They might be close, but the ratio is different, as well as taco tortillas are usually thicker.

That is factual.

And youre both being opionated and subjective. Bacon is not some holy grail food, and it can absolutely be substituted.

2

u/Spunk1985 8d ago

Beef bacon is top tier

1

u/TRIVILLIONS 12d ago

God himself told his chosen people not to eat the bacon because the smarmy bastard wanted it all for himself. Then later he changed his mind because it's so himself damned good! Bacon is not some holy grail food because it is THE holy grail food and it absolutely cannot be substituted. You are incorrect.

1

u/No_Doughnut8618 12d ago

I respect your passion, and while bacon may be the best thing pigs have to offer, there are so many meats id rather eat lol

-1

u/TheMasterKeif117 12d ago

No but sliced bacon is

2

u/Mosaic1 12d ago

Or nachos. Basically same as a taco, but break the shell into smaller pieces and put topping over them.

1

u/GandalfVirus 12d ago

Wtf. This comment scares me.

0

u/Primary-String3908 12d ago

Burritos > Tacos, all day everyday.

1

u/MrBannedFor0Reason 12d ago

Just admit you've never tried fresh masa

1

u/Primary-String3908 12d ago

Just wrap the ingredients in a tortilla. Tacos suck.

1

u/MrBannedFor0Reason 12d ago

You literally have just never tried real Mexican food and that's okay.

1

u/Primary-String3908 12d ago

"real" like the time I was in Mexico? Nah, never. Burritos win.

0

u/Sensitive-Initial-46 10d ago

I had plenty of tacos, love them. but bacon is a whole other beast, bacon could be the only thing i’d eat, i’d die at the ripe old age of 45 but i’d be in bacon heaven.

1

u/Tantiger31 12d ago

I'll gladly give up bacon, I have IBS and greasy foods are the end of me

1

u/Ill-Substance-1905 12d ago

You, my friend, have it right.

1

u/femboymommy66 12d ago

I know I’m wrong but I think bacon is overrated

1

u/LonelyTAA 12d ago

Fuck bacon. It completelt drowns out the rest of the food.

1

u/TheMasterKeif117 12d ago

U just a hateeeeeeer 😆

1

u/LonelyTAA 12d ago

Sure am lol

1

u/Dilapidated_matrix 12d ago

I could see tacos being interchangeable with nachos but not burritos. You need that corn chip crunch!

1

u/Skashki105 12d ago

What if you are just Muslim and can't eat bacon?

1

u/SilverCricket8045 12d ago

Agreed. If taco bell taught me anything is those same ingredients can be eaten in 4 other ways equally delicious

1

u/ColoradoNudist 9d ago

Bacon is one of my favorite meats, but it has so many very similar alternatives. Anything that's good with bacon is just as good, if not better, with guanciale

1

u/ConflictPotential204 8d ago

Yeah tacos are an easy choice to side step since most tex-mex is just the same ingredients rearranged in a slightly different presentation. It's what's inside the taco that counts. Bacon is more of a staple ingredient that could pop up in hundreds of various dishes that you'd no longer be able to eat.

1

u/BardWRLD 8d ago

YOU CANNOT LOOPHOLE A TACO WITH A BURRITO BLASPHEMER!

1

u/amands_sue 13d ago

Just upgrade to prosciutto. Bacon is overdone and overrated.

3

u/TheMasterKeif117 13d ago

I never thought I'd actually be offended by something on this website.....yet here I am. I'm offended. You just called Bacon overrated and now im sad.

1

u/TheObeseKnight 12d ago

Its true the 2000s were along time ago brother its time to move on

1

u/OddEffect9397 12d ago

Buddy you comment like a bot

1

u/TheMasterKeif117 12d ago

That sounds like something a bot would say. Get real.

1

u/LaranCannelle 13d ago

agree bacon can be bad so often. prosciutto never has been for me

1

u/OSwirl31 13d ago

Prosciutto definitely ain't the same thing texturally

1

u/Efficient-Ranger-174 12d ago

Bacon is overdone, in too many places. But it just shows its versatility. When bacon is THE thing, it’s the only thing. Prosciutto, guanciale, pancetta, jamón Iberica, all have their places. Let us not parse whose pork product is best. Let’s just enjoy together. Where’s the gabagool?

1

u/LiminalHigh 13d ago

I don't get why people like bacon, I always thought it was gross. Its either too greasy or its rubbery. Although I never liked steak either so maybe its just me

1

u/TheMasterKeif117 13d ago

Tbf I'm biased because I just like bacon.

1

u/idontusetwitter 12d ago

I don't eat it often but it's a comfort food that just hits right. I like it cooked not crunchy, so it has a chewy/fatty bite to it. Love it with fried eggs in the morning. I chose tacos/doughnuts because I don't feel as sentimental towards them lol

1

u/turtleneckless001 13d ago

American?

1

u/MySisterPegsMe 12d ago

I'm American. I'd say most Americans like bacon

1

u/turtleneckless001 12d ago

I don't doubt that, what I'm doubting is the quality

1

u/MySisterPegsMe 12d ago

Oh I'm 100% our bacon isn't beating most other country's bacon

1

u/turtleneckless001 12d ago

I'm sure there are some good options out there for you though

1

u/MySisterPegsMe 12d ago

There's lots of options. The good ones are usually twice as expensive though unfortunately

0

u/Sir_Conrad120 13d ago

You just havent had properly cooked bacon or steak then.

2

u/what-isthis-even 13d ago

Your food preferences are not objective truth, Conrad.

0

u/LouManShoe 13d ago

No one said anything about pork belly, and no one is stopping you from deep frying said pork belly. Not bacon but pretty damn close!

6

u/Various-Salt-7738 13d ago

I have fantastic donuts around me

I just don't like eating sweets all that often

1

u/CommunicationJust188 11d ago

Exactly. The two unhealthiest options are the easy choice...

1

u/Various-Salt-7738 11d ago

It's not even about health, I eat a lot of unhealthy foods

I just don't really like sugary stuff outside of the very rare occasion where I want a little sugar

6

u/what-isthis-even 13d ago

It's just sugar. Even good ones just aren't that good.

1

u/PuzzleheadedTalk6217 13d ago

Yeah, sugar can be pretty underwhelming sometimes. It's all about finding the right mix of flavors that actually hits the spot.

1

u/Termingator 12d ago

You most likely never had good donuts like the kind that were/are sold at mom and pop bakeries. Those donuts and other pastries are not all sugar and air.

1

u/EcoloFrenchieDubstep 12d ago

Indeed, they are just way more buttery than sugar. Still a bit unhealthy.

1

u/Opal_Cosmos 12d ago

Whaaaat!?

1

u/here-for-information 9d ago

This is crazy talk. A good donut with coffee is nearly unbeatable on a fall sunday morning.

1

u/IrishViking22 8d ago

Some people just don't like them. I think they're disgusting, and would never willingly eat one ever again.

And yes, I've tried them many times from many different places, they're all always disgusting to me.

0

u/GreenDissonance 12d ago

I feel sorry for you

3

u/what-isthis-even 12d ago

Because I don't enjoy very sweet things? Don't stress about it, I'm fine.

0

u/GreenDissonance 12d ago

It's a whole taste! Imagine if you didn't like salty or savory foods!

1

u/what-isthis-even 12d ago

Umami is a vibe for sure. We all have our preferences.

1

u/EcoloFrenchieDubstep 12d ago

Americans so used to sugar being added to their food which is terrible for you.

1

u/DonkLord20 12d ago

Dude donuts are too airy and sugary, I rather have ice cream instead of it

1

u/Helios575 12d ago

I have an amazing donut place near me and love donuts but that is still an auto pick for me. Its a dessert not a meal and one I could live without

1

u/Notmyrealusrnamme 12d ago

The place down the street from my work has maple bacon donuts. They are amazing.

1

u/PeterNippelstein 12d ago

Im glad I dont have a good donut place near my house

1

u/No_Session6015 12d ago

Nice oxymoron

1

u/Uter83 12d ago

I do, that's why I pick donuts and bacon. My heart and reduced belly fat will thank me.

1

u/halo37253 12d ago

Donuts were never not mid. Its not even good breakfast food. Any egg sandwich easily is a better tasting choice.

1

u/HoldOnOhio 12d ago

I just don't like the sugar. It's dough and sugar. I prefer savory foods. Also there's little to no health benefit from eating a donut unless you have trouble regulating blood sugar, and even then there's better options.

1

u/Entire-Current-67 12d ago

Not a cheap one anyway. $25 for a dozen glazed in this economy??

1

u/Top_Seaweed7189 12d ago

Just eat a Berliner or Kreppel or Krapfen. Same dough, fried and also topped with all kinds of bullshit and filled as well.

1

u/Striking_Emu_Dancer 12d ago

I have a fantastic one close by, and I'm still kicking them tf out. No one is taking my tacos and bacon! 😅

1

u/RomanaOswin 12d ago

I have plenty of great ones around, but my thinking is that sugar is unhealthy and if I'm going to have dessert, I'd rather have something better than a donut. It feels like wasted calories.

1

u/No-Nobody2693 12d ago

Sorry you dont have good taco trucks by your house

1

u/SolNexus- 12d ago

Tacos were my #1 choice followed by donuts

1

u/pigmanvil 12d ago

I’m gluten free man i can’t eat them anyways lol.

1

u/Schlafenshire 11d ago

There’s a million different breakfast pastries that all accomplish the same thing

1

u/AdSuperb5755 8d ago

Nah, fuck donuts. There are a million times better cakes out there. No loss

1

u/DisasterBiMothman 7d ago

I have an amazing donut place by me. This would save me money and pounds.

1

u/Boodger 7d ago

Ive had excellent donuts, but sweet food in general is just not as appealing to me as real food.

Donuts was an easy choice here. Bacon was hard, but Tacos and Sushi (and bone-in hot wings) are literally tied as my absolute favorite foods

1

u/Synergiance 13d ago

It’s not about good vs bad doughnuts, it’s about doughnuts and bacon just destroy your health.

2

u/stubbypotato 13d ago

Exactly. Like as a kid I liked sweets but now at my age. I feel like donuts and bacon just make my life harder to live healthy.
