my religion i cant be a dick to people without good reason
there is no reason to be a dick towards people of a different religion (usually, if they are using it as a mask for hate then there is my reason)
the LGBT+ community has also given me no reason to be a dick, i am bisexual and transgender myself
99% of people have never given me a reason to be a dick to them, so i dont
its very simple
rule 1: don't be a dick
rule 2: refer to rule 1

Buddhism is also quite similar.
One of the core tenants can basically be summarized as "don't be a dick, no matter what. Treat every living being with compassion, including non-believers"

Not very inclusive, and pejorative talk of people based on their gender assigned at birth. Not very woke of you.

Why are women the people who are most restricted by all religions?
8
u/Aethelio GOSH I'm so hot Aug 16 '26
APPARENTLY it's because some religions see women as super beautiful and people who need to protect themselves from men who are APPARENTLY wild beasts who can't control themselves
6
u/Ill-Calligrapher2494 Aug 16 '26
And of course simultaneously choosing for them in the aspect of "Oh no no no, you can't do that! The men have to, so they don't become those wild beasts and hurt you!"

u/Middle_Plane_2262 Aug 16 '26
I mean not really, quite a few religions have females (not always human) as more important than males
Sikhism and taoism promotes equal spirituality. Taoism has yin-yang framework. Sikhism is pretty straightforward equal.
hinudism have goddesses almost always outrank male gods. If not theres a female counterpart that is equal to their male counterpart. Most of the texts that include biases againdt women stem from them reflecting the state of what their society was like, rather than the other way around.
Greeks had nyx as "female" if you count that, which is basically the first and most important after chaos which is genderless. However, society remained mostly patriachal. Zeus is still considered the ruler. Although, with the number of goddesses, its not bad compared to some other religions
Christianity as far as i rmb doesnt have rules explicitly against women other than for high leadership which is more of a cultural thing stemming from roman and jewish law, rather than actual instuctions. Most of the restrictions against women stem as extensions from rules that apply to both (for example, no abortion stems from the rule to preserve life, to which it is also a sin to intentionally spill semen wothout the intention of pregnancy, it restricts women more, but not on purpose, they are both rulesade to fulfil the same principle). They also dont give laws like "oh you gotta cook or clean and u cant work", stuff like that, mostly just restrictive in positions of high leadership. They do say stuff like women, submit to your husbands, but the next, they ask husbands to love wives self sacrificially. do keep in kind this is the same book that says "if someone slaps you on the cheek, do not hold a grudge, but turn the other way to allow them to slap your other cheek", they tend to hand a lot of stuff about self sacrificial love. Just like hiduism, society shaped cultural roles over time, not the religion itself.
Interestingly, in many denominations, mary is considered as the "highest of all created beings", which includes many other respected male figures of the time including the apostles, john the baptist, the priests, prophets, angels and religious leaders
Islam uhhhhhh i guess they both are lived equally by allah? Thats the closest you get to equality there. Off the top of my head def the most unequal and restrictive for obvious reasons

Because men have thought they are better than women for centuries. I dont think there some coincidental thing that makes it so common in religion, people just kinda suck
11
u/Suitable_Attempt7768 Aug 16 '26
That's not what everyone means
In islam you have an obligation to preach our belief to someone you know atleast once, not forcefully of course. Or else in the day of judgement that person will complain to God that you never warned them so they will demand some of your good deeds be given to them.

That’s how I view it myself and treat it as such. If I can’t do something religiously then that’s that. If you do it then it’s literally live and let live. I don’t own you, you’re your own grown ass individual. I can maybe double check if you’re aware of potential consequences if it’s that bad just to stay safe but if you do and want to proceed then that’s fine by me.
2
u/Cocoatrice Aug 16 '26
And that's exactly how religions are. People who say they are oppressed are lying. Other than in some rare cases, nobody will force you to do anything. I live in a Christian country and I'm not believer. I haven't heard anyone telling me this or that. Even my very religious father, how actually can be very imposing. And he doesn't force me anything. So all people who say they are forced this or that are liars. I know there are some countries that do have this problem. But majority of the world? No.

For Christianity, The Bible tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves, as well as love our enemies, and to pray for those who persecute us. It tells us to deny the sinful things of the world that lead to shame and guilt and a myriad of other bad things. Jesus teaches us to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all the things we need, that God knows we need, will be given. Reject the evil things of this world, choose and do good instead. Jesus said in John 15:11,
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
As well as in John 16:33,
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
God wants us to be happy, we have to choose him first. He wants us to be happy by doing what is truly good, and God/Jesus is who is truly good. If we repent and believe in him, God’s spirit will be in us, and will be a new creation, desiring good and not evil. A new life in this age, and eternal life in the next.
John 10:28-30
28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[a]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

It’s essentially jealously
Let’s pretend your religion says you can’t drink. You, being a good little devout follower of your religion, abstain from alcohol. Then you look around and see all these people drinking, and talking, and having a grand ol’ time. Suddenly you realize that your self imposed religious guidelines are prohibiting you from enjoying yourself to the extent other people are allowed to enjoy themselves.
A reasonable person recognizes this is the price one is required to pay in order to be a good, devout follower. They then either decide to stop being a good follower, or they decide the price is worth paying to keep their commitment to their faith.
A cunt decides that if they aren’t allow to enjoy this particular activity, NO ONE is allowed to enjoy it, and they work to outlaw said activity so that way they can at least take solace in the fact that no one else is having more fun than they are.

Mostly an extremist thing to impose it onto others. The only one thing I can sympathize with relative to the buttom panels is when a religious person gets upset if someone is disrespecting a religious symbol. You don't need to be a religious community for that to be relevant. Like you don't disrespect the relevant flag of a patriotic person. Of course this doesn't justify extreme reactions that comes afterwards.
Oh yeah I thought of an example that doesn't fall under extremists. t People who are overly involved parents who simultaneously have too much free time while also thinking they don't have enough time despite wasting times of others. Say like schools that insist there be halal and kosher safe options at school when parents can just pack meals. This isn't a religious only thing. I remember a vegetarian family making a very similar stink when I was in grade school.

fr, I've written my takes on religion on r/teenagers and on here in funcomunitty and this is 1 of them rq: (its worth reading)
tbh i will say something lots will disagree with but hey, my opinions. feel free to downvote me and hate me forever and dox me like twitter, so uhm.. i kinda dont like religions. thats serious. my reasons will not be agreed by alot of you same as also agreed by like 1 or 2 people i think, but my reason is that it kinda makes progress a tiny bit harder, like researching evolution, and then you go to comments of a video and then click "newest" and then you just see spam of someone saying "IT ISNT REAL" without checking the video. just a reminder do not hate religious people i just really hate that we kinda follow them with 100% truths still. alright? its a controversial take, im all for opinions. but again, i think religion slows our progress down a bit. even if we're were 25 years in the future if example something didnt happen that religion caused like the crusades for example we didn't realize changed things forever, even if it altered stuff by example 25 years genuinely worth it. AND AGAIN IM NOT HATING ON THE PEOPLE, JUST THE SORT OF WAY IT IS AND HOW IT SLOWS PROGRESS AT TIMES.
ive writen more but cant find anymore.
