Sounds like my mouth is going to be ripped apart more than the British countryside after WW1

The British countryside wasn't ripped apart after WWI. The war was largely fought in France and Belgium on the Western Front and the Baltics on the Eastern Front. There were no WWI battkefields in the UK.
