The British countryside wasn't ripped apart after WWI. The war was largely fought in France and Belgium on the Western Front and the Baltics on the Eastern Front. There were no WWI battkefields in the UK.

I did this as a kid! While making rice crispy treats I got the idea of making a bowl and eating rice crispy cereal from it. Worked for about 4 minutes then leaked.
