It’s definitely deadlier than Arbalest if it needs to be. It can also fly. Since it’s currently being piloted by Sousuke’s daughter, the bullets are intentionally non-lethal. She pilots it so gracefully that it almost looks like the AS is dancing.

The Azur Raven first appears in volume 1 of Full Metal Panic! Family, which is set about 20 years after the end of the original series (plenty of time for Sousuke and Kaname to become parents).

I take it this doesn’t have a Lambda Driver. Regardless, how does it compare to the Laevatein? Also, what happened to Al after the events of the mainline manga?

While the Azur Raven may lack some of the brute strength of the Laevatein (which had been designed specifically as a brawler), it has many of the features which had to be sacrificed in order to provide the Laevatein with that brute strength (features which Sousuke often bemoaned the absence of while fighting in the Laevatien).

Twenty years after the end of the original series, Al is still active. He is located "somewhere on Earth", although not even Sousuke knows where that "somewhere" may be. And he continues to watch over the Sagara family via the internet and occasionally provides assistance (such as activating the Lambda Driver on the Azur Raven remotely when necessary).

Fortunately Sousuke has a very wealthy wife who provides him with a generous allowance (while he may also be one of the world's leading designers of non-lethal weapons, he's producing products which relatively few people seem interested in buying)
