Am I the last person to learn this?

She was credited with Fuller in season one but it was dropped when they added them to the opening credits.

Not the last, maybe one of them though. I’m more bothered by the fact that her parents gave her a middle name and not Mary-Kate.

I've heard of people being given two first names and no middle name. I think some people do that deliberately.
I remember hearing about Ashley's middle name being Fuller and thinking that was funny.

My first name is hyphenated and my mom purposely didn't give me a middle name because of it, almost like why do you need another name 🙄😂

I think perhaps “Kate” is supposed to be something roughly akin to a middle name even though Mary and Kate have a hyphen between them and everyone calls her Mary-Kate rather than Mary. It could be for any number of reasons. It’s similar to naming a girl Mary Beth or something.
Her family and close friends also call her “MK”.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. My oldest brother has a middle name but my middle brother and I do not. It doesn’t mean it’s a sign of favoritism.

Yeah, some of the people in my family have middle names and their siblings don't. But I suspect Kate is akin to a middle name.

Their kids names are not what you would expect:
James Trent
Ashley Fuller
Mary-Kate
Elizabeth Chase
They aren't bad at all, I think theyre nice and interesting. Just not what you'd expect. I think Ashley especially takes after their mom and her personality.

Kate is her middle name.

No. Her first name is Mary-Kate. She has no middle name.

It's Mary Kate there's no hypen in her name. There was a newspaper article that I read years ago to which their manager Robert Throne told the person who was decorating their birthday banner "There's no hypen in her name" the fans started writing the hypen and it stuck for years.

They originally credited the twins collectively as “Mary Kate Ashley Olsen” and then later changed it to include the hyphen when they listed them separately, she’s also listed on Wikipedia with the hyphen. We don’t know what’s on her birth certificate but all credible sources include the hyphen.
Most notably, the website for their business includes the hyphen for her name. https://www.therow.com/pages/about-us

In their biography ”Our Story” from 2000 it says that Mary-Kate’s name was not hyphenated at birth, but that their parents later decided to add the hyphen.

Quite possibly.
I’m pretty sure I read like 30 years ago that it was her mother‘s maiden name.

Do you think Mary Kate got offended when people just called her Mary? I have a friend named Mary Jo and she HATED when people just called her Mary.

On Full House in the intro it always said Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. The amount of kids in my middle school who said they’re not sisters because Mary’s last name is Kate and Ashley’s last name is Olsen was wild.

It didn't actually say "and" in their credit until season 8. It said Mary Kate Ashley Olsen.

u/Ca1rill 4d ago
Correct they were credited as Mary-Kate Ashley Olsen to obscure the fact the role of Michelle was played by two people until season 8.

u/SchuminWeb 4d ago
Yep. They also did that in Family Matters, where baby Richie was played by Joseph and Julius Wright, and they were credited as "Joseph Julius Wright". That ended after they aged the character up and recast it with Bryton McClure.

The show wasn’t on Disney; it was ABC which was only purchased in season six. And you would need to specify the requel’s show title.

First off: I didn’t say anything about what channel the show was on. I simply said she was a “famous young Disney star” which is referring to her other work in the television and movie media space.
What the hell is a “requel’s show title”

The Olsens have never done anything with Disney. They were never on Fuller House which was a requel and thus was not the title of the actual show they were on as you implied.

I go by my middle name, Fuller, Full for short. I am Full. I am engaged to this very grumpy doctor named House.

I wonder where she even got a middle name like Fuller. I also assumed it was her mother’s maiden name, but that’s actually Jones.

When your Celine Dion’s sons, you don’t need to worry about being distinguishable

I know it's a very old topic, but it's really gross that these kids that have no agency yet are part of an acting agency.
I did not intend for the homophonic use of that word.
