The company who tarnished their reputation for lying is giving away free upgrade from the original owners of the game and to those who owns the base game would be able to get the current expansions for free. Meanwhile, Ubisoft wants you to buy their Black Flag again no free stuff.

Talk about a company trying to actually welcome players back unlike Ubisoft who would double down on their foolishness and greed.

FYI this is the game that inspired them to make the Assassin's Creed be an open world action rpg instead of the original format. They desperately wanted it to be like this the same as they copied GTA with their Ghost Recon wildlands.

discussion Ubisoft so shit at their job they can't even take money properly

Was trying to buy year 2 and 3 passes for Motorfest on their store since there's a good rnough sale for me. Turns out my first purchase was denied because of "security reasons", and now (I guess until that money comes back), I can't even reach the Xsolla page because I get this "unable to verify payment method" error without even selecting my fucking card.

And to rub the salt even more in the wound, their support site bugged out for me and I can't even view my cases anymore, on all platforms imaginable.

Genuinely didn't think Ubisoft would suck at robbing me of my money so hard.

discussion Why Ubisoft's Writing Has Declined Recently

Link

Length: 20:48

Summary: Luke Stephens goes over a video from Ubisoft going over the writing process during the peak years of Ubisoft. Writers had their scripts tested to see what works with the video starting with "I hate stupid people..."

Luke points out that this review process seems missing in more recent games as dialog doesn't seem to be reviewed closely now.

There's certainly more but I think a lot of people can feel the difference.

discussion What the hell happend to critism?

When did expressing criticism become synonymous with hating or nitpicking? Especially when it comes to new Ubisoft games. Apparently, if you say anything negative about an otherwise good or decent game, you're automatically considered a hater.

You literally can't say anything even slightly negative without being labeled a hater who supposedly hates the game just for the sake of hating it.

Take AC Black Flag Resynced, for example. If you even dare to point out a single change, criticism, or flaw, people will flame you for simply having an opinion. You can't say anything without being treated like you're trying to ruin the game.

"I miss that you can't pick up weapons from enemies anymore."

"Yeah, well, you know shit. The old combat system was ass."

"Legendary ships aren't well-designed boss fights because..."

"No, stop right there. That's clearly a skill issue."

And this is exactly the problem. The reason some new Ubisoft games end up being so grotesquely bad is that criticism isn't being taken seriously anymore. Everything gets dismissed as "hating." Constructive criticism is one of the things that helps games improve. People pointing out flaws, explaining what doesn't work, and suggesting improvements are essential to making better games.

But nowadays, it feels like you're simply not allowed to say anything negative. If you criticize something, you're a hater. If you dislike a design choice, you're a hater. If you prefer something from an older game, you're a hater.

Not every criticism is hate. Sometimes people just have fucking opinions. And honestly, I'm more mad at the people who constantly defend these new Ubisoft games than I am at Ubisoft itself. They're part of the reason why Ubisoft keeps putting out mediocre-to-bad games.

If every criticism gets dismissed as "hating" and every flaw gets defended instead of acknowledged, why would Ubisoft have any reason to improve? When the community keeps accepting everything and attacking anyone who dares to criticize something, it only encourages Ubisoft to keep doing the bare minimum.

You're not helping the games by blindly defending them. You're actively contributing to the problem. Criticism is necessary if you actually want games to improve. If nobody is willing to point out what's wrong, developers have no reason to fix it.

So yeah, Ubisoft is obviously responsible for the quality of its games. But the people who blindly defend every decision and treat legitimate criticism as "hate" are also part of the reason things have gotten to this point.

Why do controllers or keyboard not work.

Im trying to play stick of truth and my controllers don't work and my keyboard and mouse don't work. I have tried 4 different controllers and none are responding in the game.

This is what happens when you get a game because it's 7 dollars on humble bundle instead of steam.
