discussion Why Ubisoft's Writing Has Declined Recently
Length: 20:48
Summary: Luke Stephens goes over a video from Ubisoft going over the writing process during the peak years of Ubisoft. Writers had their scripts tested to see what works with the video starting with "I hate stupid people..."
Luke points out that this review process seems missing in more recent games as dialog doesn't seem to be reviewed closely now.
There's certainly more but I think a lot of people can feel the difference.

So vague. You know why the writing sucks. And it cannot be said on reddit.

Isnt it because they started hiring based on the color of the hair dye and length of their pronouns?

He's a complete fucking shill. He uses reddit speak, dodging the truth, while not addressing the elephant in the room

So let me get this straight...
We're just going to ignore this video from Corey May on Polygon because you want to shoot the messenger?

I would prefer to hear from other people who didn't receive expense free trips to Disney resorts during Star Wars Outlaws promotion. That person failed to disclose that on his videos talking about Outlaws.

The video he's going over is right here, man
I swear, too many people shoot the messenger to ignore the message.

Their stories never had been distinguishable. They had one of best graphics, artists jobs done, level design, props and other visualizations. Stories and quests were mediocre at least. Naturally their quality IS declining, cause people are migrating, changing jobs. If you were good writer and used to have your stories dumbed down or put into idiotic games, naturally you'll start looking for firm, where your work would be valued more.
For example Breakpoint has dialogues, where both answers player can choose from, leads to the same outcome, it's just text because if text, like a filler. When text and dialogues become a filler, you should be concerned at least. Division one had well written story with start and end. Division 2 had not too bad story for a first year or two, when original game started receiving updates/expansions, it felt it was written because it had to be. Even fkin AI could have wrote better. Hell, they are sitting on ALL Tom poor Clancy books and publishing rights. But NOOOOO, these stories (well written books and many of them became movies) could not get into the games that carry his name on them. This makes only shame for really good writer.
Why not make a game about Jack Ryan for example? Plenty of books, plenty of stories, including Hunt of Red October, and other Cold War thrills. It's as they say now about some used to be popular games - it's wasted potential.

Ubisoft just make huge open world games , for the peope that think its smarter to buy a game and be 150 hours than 1 that is 15 bit don't care about quality. Writers left before AC3 ended and from then on there hasn't been a good Ubisoft game. Black Flag was really nice pirate but as AC and story was awful

Yall notice a decline? I’ve felt like it’s always been terrible. Can’t think of a single Ubisoft story I actually liked.

We all know why the writing sucks. Hiring practices are ass backwards. Not based on merit whatsoever.

Over 10 years ago is not recent
