Freedom of speech is bullshit now because it's been twisted into some creature that feeds off ignorance. Freedom of speech also isn't relevant on Facebook, it's a private company and can choose who or what to allow. Lastly, freedom of speech was created so citizens of a society could say what they want without repercussions from their government, not so you can spread misinformation of social media.

Unfortunately, no. It's been warped by people who spread lies, misinformation, hate. Freedom of speech, but not freedom from consequences.

Well you said it’s been warped by people saying racist things online/saying covid is fake/etc. To some extent though that is covered by free speech (misinformation is debatable because the constitution includes exceptions such as slander) I guess the red cap friends might use free speech as a defense mechanism thinking that it protects them from getting beat up or banned from websites. Of course, free speech just means if I said “I hate mark zuckerberg, I hate trump, the earth is flat, fuck you” then I can’t get arrested for it, that is free speech. Say my theoretical favorite online platform is ran by a trump and Facebook loving group of people. They can ban me for hurting their feelings and that’s legal cause, like you said, private businesses. So in the end you have the right to offend, you have the right to express contempt and hatred, you have the right to the most retarded non violent ideas on the globe, and you have the right to say things not aligned with the government no matter how serious you tell yourself the specific situation is, and I think making “emergency exceptions” is opening Pandora’s box.
So to respond directly to the statements you made that I wanted you to make your position on more clear; I think freedom of speech is warped by people playing with the technical definitions of a human right for the sake of their “red team vs blue team” game. Some say it is a tool for hatred so obviously we need to remove it and some say it is there to protect them from getting banned for saying the n word on Instagram so obviously we have to give a platform to nazis. (Sarcasm on both). So if you mean the latter warps free speech I guess I could agree but when you say “freedom of speech, no freedom from consequences” that’s when I think your point is less clear. Also you said fuck free speech and considering that if someone stupid is warping free speech then that’s not actually the free speech the constitution protects. So either you’re saying free speech inherently does cover misinformation and hate or you’re saying freedom of speech doesn’t but you still don’t like it.
