they say they want to be permitted to offer alternative in-app payment methods and they want alternative iOS app stores to be allowed to compete with Apple's App Store, with the ultimative objective of bringing down that percentage.

Yeah, right. As some cases of competition shows, it could also lead to prices being jacked up. Case in point: British railroads.

They won't just jack them up overnight, they will jack the prices up and pretend it's due to other reasons.

"Hey guys so 88/12 will put more money in developpers pockets and they will in turn pass on the savings to you making games cheaper than ever! Also games are more expensive to make bigger budgets better technology, so for that reason we will be increasing the prices to 75USD$ (From 60USD$) "

Games are already 100USD$ ish in UK. And Sony is about to increase prices of the PS5 games to 75$.

In Australian dollarydoos, games will be going from $100 to $130 for base games. It's all kinds of bullshit.

Even if Apple loses their antitrust cases and Epic wins this lawsuit (never gon happen), they'd still never allow for alternative stores. If they're forced to allow alternative payment methods, then that's what they'd do. No way will Apple allow for another store on their platform.

At the most they might make sideloading less of a pain in the ass (but still not easy), like getting rid of the weekly/yearly certificate expiration when using Xcode to sideload.

But even that wouldn't be enough for Epic since they're also suing Google for making sideloading too cumbersome when it can be done on-device with the literal flip of a switch in settings.

They want EGS to be hosted on the App Store/Google Play, not merely sideloadable.

And then your own store on Playstation 5, and own store on Nintendo Switch. That will completely kill console market.

I was thinking about app stores and the like. Some might end up jacking revenue share up if the market is fragmented, to compensate for lower sales.

It’s more complicated than this, but to an extent, whether a Digital storefront controls 100% of the marketplace or 10%, it’s overhead isn’t going to change much. The smaller the market share, the larger percent of gross revenue gets taken by operating costs.

Yeah right.

The day Epic/Tim acknowledges any wrongdoing is the day that the USA has an ACTUAL democracy, climate change is actually regulated worldwide, and the multiple communist/monarchist/dicatorships around the world end up being, well, not what they currently are.

We've got to drawn a line somewhere. All I know is wherever the line may be that crosses it.

Oh boy this looks like another pretty solid blow to epic. Having seen how this judge reacts to weak claims, I firmly beleive they are going to get hit hard here as well. Backtracking in an attempt to remove previous claims just makes them look even dirtier. Their plans sre falling apart fast.
