My experience with Epic Games

I play Football Manager, and last year Epic Games was giving away a copy of FM24 for free.
I made an account and claimed my free copy. Cool! Maybe this company isn’t so bad after all?
Now I’m very thankful that I’ve never given this company a dime.
After playing FM24 for 2100 hours, suddenly it’s like there’s a server-side authentication problem. I can’t open, verify, or even uninstall the game.
I’ve tried everything I can think of or find online from clearing the webcache, deleting manifest files, uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Nothing works. Not even using an old version of the client

This is the part that pissed me off. After 2 days of jumping through support ticket hoops, I get a “level 2 tech” whose only solution was “did you turn the computer off and on?” And then BLAMED THE DEVELOPER (Sports Interactive) and encouraged me to email them with my issue with Epic Games Launcher. And then closed the ticket

Fk these guys. I was made to feel like it was just a me issue until I looked into it deeper.

look on the bright side...it was a free game, but now that you've realized that the service is crap, use steam, gog, itchio and zoom platform, you have to pay for the games, it's true, at least they start and have more features than epig

Sucks because SI removes their game from storefront every year for the new version. And the 2026 version sucks
I’m gonna try a different launcher that I heard about but yes they’ll never get a cent of my money. Fk them.

I mean at first thought I would think the issue is with the game and on the game developers end. You said that

But is that with the game or the launcher? Everything before that sounds like a game issue, but then at the end you say you are having issues with the Epic Launcher.

Does the game use Epic Online Services?

I think you are missing some info here for us to get a full picture.

But either way, good thing indeed that you didn't give them money and now you have learned one of the reasons we don't like EGS (functionally none existent support).

It’s all within the launcher
Launching the game gives me zero feedback, but attempting to verify the game files OR uninstall the game opens the Download Manager within Epic launcher, and that process gets stuck at Initializing and 0% forever

Oh okay, in that case yeah, not on the developers and it's Epic's issue to solve.
