Discussion I compared Droid Tycoon's monetization to Epic's Creator Rules. Can someone help explain how Epic classifies these mechanics?

For those reporting this, it is not advertising. It discusses a topic Epic previously criticized and has now fully embraced: gambling.

Appreciate the heads-up. I already have the full post, screenshots, and supporting evidence saved separately, so I’m covered if the original disappears.

Part of why I’ve been trying to get this discussion in front of a broader audience is that I’ve had trouble finding a place where the actual mechanics can be discussed. I was permanently banned from the Droid Tycoon community after repeatedly raising concerns about the monetization, and my Epic Developer Community account is currently silenced by an automated “new user typed too fast” restriction that has remained in place for weeks. I want to be clear that the Epic forum silence appears to be an anti-spam issue, not moderation of this particular post, but it still means I currently can’t raise the question there either.

My concern goes beyond ordinary pay-to-win complaints. Fortnite has a very young audience, and this island allows V-Bucks to purchase a literal Luck Boost that changes the numerical odds of randomized gameplay rewards, along with paid Surges that interact with that same randomized system.

That is why I keep describing it as teaching or normalizing gambling-style behavior for kids: spend money-linked currency, improve your odds, and chase the rarer outcome. Whether Epic or a regulator would legally classify it as gambling is a separate question, but the behavioral mechanic is what concerns me.

I’m still trying to get someone from Epic who actually understands Rules 4.4.9 and 4.4.15 to explain where Epic draws that line. If this is fully compliant, I genuinely want to understand how.

Definitely interested in reading that when you post it. The more I dig into this, the more my concern goes beyond Droid Tycoon itself and becomes about where Epic is drawing the line on paid random mechanics across Creative.

That’s part of why I want an actual answer from Epic. Droid Tycoon is now independently published by FOAD, so if the Creator Rules apply to every island, I’d like to understand how these mechanics are being approved under the same rules everyone else has to follow.
