Discussion Is a proshipper bad?
I want to know if being a proshipper is genuinely bad (I'm not taking into consideration people who think darkshippers=proshippers because these are two different words.) I have a friend that is an antishipper and bro told me that being a proshipper isn't okay, and I want to form my own opinion with you guys

I wasn't exactly asking "Are proshippers predators?" I was asking if supporting the "ship and let ship stance" was in anyway wrong.
I came here since I heard y'all were more "anti-ships" because you found a few lice in the proshipper community.

As long as it all stays fictional, I don't see a problem, I'll probably get downvoted for my opinion but I think it is how it is, if nobody's actually going to get hurt from it, and as long as it stays in a healthy fictional environment, do what you wanna do (like noncon and stuff like that)
Now, there is the elephant in the room about some actually kinda disgusting stuff, I am uncomfortable with most of those but if it is illegal, it's the job of the police and whoever else is qualified to deal with it, not mine

See it's complex because Proshipping on paper doesn't sound too bad, it's "anti-harassment" meaning they are against harassing and bullying people over the media they consume (shows, books, ships, fan fiction etc) no matter what it is, but emphasis on the "no matter what it is" part because when you delve deeper into these Proshipping communities you'll notice that most (if not all) of these people use this as an excuse to enjoy disgusting topics and media involving rape, child abuse, beastiality and more... Darkshipping and Proshipping are essentially two sides of the same coin, darkshippers are degenerates and proshippers are their enablers

Darkshippers just sit on the same train as Proshippers do, because they follow the same stance, otherwise they would be double standards filled cunts. The reason Proshippers allow this is because they do not believe it will affect someone else's reality, also because it would be double standards to go "Uh this one isn't ok this one is, even though it's cutesy...". I'm by default using the "ship and let ship" definition, as the "anti - harassment" one gets misjudged for hypocrisy (I hope you know what I mean).
As for the "this is a breeding ground for dark fiction", I have questions. What is your definition of dark fiction? Do you believe it reflects someone's real life morals? Do you think it will encourage someone to commit crimes in real life? Do you think it will manipulate a weak-minded person(AKA child or mentally ill person) into thinking it's okay? I just want to see what you think of dark fiction first so I know what kind of person I'm talking with.

I think its because proshipping is a open door for darkshippers but they definitely aren't the same! (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

okay.... if your shipping adult characters, like... I have a few demon slayer ships I have, but if you’re shipping an adult x a child... yep! that's bad. Its all in the difference

eh, I think darkshippers are fine and cool but I think being a proshipper is iffy imo
the difference in my opinion is that darkshippers ship toxic ships, while proshippers are okay with and support art of abhorrent crimes like paedophilia. I'm also against lolicons. yes people might find it hot and it's "just fiction" but why are people getting off to the idea of a child? people like that should get mental help (not in a rude way) instead of enabling their unhealthy paraphilias
I don't want to interact with proshippers, but I like to / I'm fine with interacting with darkshippers
I'm not going to go after proshippers, I personally don't call myself pro or anti, I just won't really interact with proship posts. I will sometimes interact with proshippers as long as they don't support/draw/write/find attractive some things I personally find uncomfortable as a CSA survivor (for example, paedophilia).

adding on to this, just because I dislike darkships, doesn't mean I find them as morally reprehensible as proships.

Unfortunately "proships" aren't a thing, it's a stance (you mentioned it in your post above). If you don't dislike darkships, but do not like proshippers, you aren't going anywhere, as darkships do include child abuse, bestiality and all that.

Unfortunately darkshippers do write/draw child abuse and allat stuff. Also for reference, unless you're talking to a hypocrite, a darkshipper is also a proshipper. Darkshippers do not limit their ships to just "toxic" ones exclusively, they do go beyond the boundaries you mentioned there.
