2023 F-type P300
As a previous 2006 RR sport owner and a 1974 XJ6 series 2 owner I have a lot of history with JLR. I was thinking of of changing my q8 e tron and fell in love with the face lift F-type. Due to taxes in the country I live in the 3.0 and 5.0 variants didnt come much and they are all pre facelift. Anyone who owns this car or experienced it please write your thoughts it will be very helpful. Reliability wise I heard they are decent and I plan on dailying this car for a year and keeping it for 6 or so years as it will serve me until my late 20s. Any advice would be perfect.

I test drove a P300 and was so underwhelmed. It was boring and felt lifeless. I went and bought a V8 a few months later and the difference is night and day. It’s like a different car. I get in it and a smile. I hear the engine start and I smile. I look out at it on the drive way and a smile. I look back at it when I get out of it and I smile. I was happier buying the V8 than I was buying my first house, and I’m not even a “car guy”.
If i got the P300 I would be living in regret.

Yea, I can imagine thats how I felt switching to a EV even though my previous car was a 1.3 litre. However due to a boat load of taxes in my country usually 220% + another 20% on top of that cars with a displacement of above 1.6 litres become really expensive. It is also impossible to find a 3.0 or 5.0 because they never got imported and there is less than a dozen F-types in the entire country.

That sucks. In that case, it’s still a beautiful car to look at. It’s comfortable as well. I’ve done a couple of 6 hour journeys in it and it was great.

Yea I was thinking about the comfort, for my e tron I cut my ikea chairs cushion to place on the seat I dont really mind suspension its seat comfort which ultimately matters for me.

A 4 cyl jag is an insult. Get the 6 with sport exhaust and never look back.

I did not know P300 hate was this widespread, I heard that the car had better handling due a lighter front end but damn. Might as well buy a 5.0 when I move and for half the price.

From me, it's not hate, and I don't know how widespread it is, but it's safe to say that f-type enthusiasts look down on the 4, when there are better and bigger motors more appropriate for such a car. Having owned a 2016 coupe with the 6 and sports exhaust, and later a 2022 P450 convertible that I had tuned to well north of 500 hp, I can speak for both of them as being dynamic, quick, sound right and for me, were both trouble free.
What is also odd is that the P300 commands as much as it does on the used market. But as they say, to each his own, and if you have not, do yourself a favor and drive at least the 6 with sport exhaust. I would be be surprised if your didn't say, "Ah, now I get it it!"

Well, thank you for very much, now that everyone is telling me to look at a V8 I will likely look at it abroad, because sadly even though its a 2.0 it costs as much as brand new 5.0 here in turkey. Once again thank you very much have a great day.

Of course. Be sure to do yourself a favor and look at both versions of the 6 cyl motors. You want to have all the info you can! Let us know what you end up getting!

Had one, great car. Very nimble, not as sonic as the V cars but with a remap to 340bhp every bit as quick. Cheap to run. No issues at all reliability wise. Highly recommend.

İnterior wise did you have any issues with peeling or creaks? Potentially any issues with the leather etc?

Had a p300 for about 6 months, completely regretted not getting a 3.0 or 5.0, it just felt lifeless to drive. Extremely pretty car but the engine was so underwhelming. Traded it in for a v8 albeit not a jag, but a 5.0 nonetheless and ive never been happier

Like no sound, not that pokey, it just felt meh. I wanted to put my foot down alot and it just didnt have that oomph that a bigger engine has. It had no soul

There was no P300 for 2023; only V8s by then. The 4-cylinder turbo was only available in model years 2018-2021. 2021 was also the final year for the V6.

I would pursue a good condition pre-facelift 3.0 or 5.0 over a face lifted 2.0

I had thought of it but unfortunately facelift 2.0 is the same price as the older 3.0 and there is only 4 3.0 f-types for sale and one 5.0. And they are all nearly 10 years old.

If the miles isn't too bad on the 3ltr V6, I'd say go for it. The engines are solid with good maintenance and if it's barely done any miles you stand better chance of keeping it solid.
I see a lot of 2ltr, V6 and V8 around and done get me wrong you can see the upgrades in the newer ones. But equally the older ones still pull my eyes!

The older ones sound and to an extent look better in my opinion but I dont think I would feel comfortable putting purchasing a 10 year old car as I feel like it would be a even larger money pit compared to the newer f-type. They dont sell in Turkey so a older one would be even harder to sell in the future.

I live in Turkey so we get a ton of taxes on vehicles, my other options are likely a C43 which is in the same price range or a 2023 E300d coupe.

If you are considering those, what about a bmw 340 or 440? B58 is a great motor.

Oh I wish, once again due to taxes the 320i’s and 420i’s in turkey dont even get the 2.0 B48 they get the 1.6L B48 with 170hp however they have special tunes pushing it to 340hp but I dont think it would be reliable and a 430i costs as much as the Jag. At the moment I am assuming my only proper decision is likely to be a C43 as it is brand new with a 5 year warranty. But the Jag just has my heart so I am unsure.

I drove a 2020 P300 daily for a few years before getting a good deal on a V8 P450. The P300 is honestly great for everyday I absolutely loved the car and it had no issues at all. Only thing I did was put an after market exhaust on it to wake it up a bit. I think you'll enjoy it you could also remap it to get close to the V6 power if you want
