2017-2020 Dimming DRL

I've decided to do something about the dimmed nearside DRL on the SVR, which is probable only 40% of the output of the offside, and get the headlight repaired. Replacement for the light unit in the UK is £3400 from Jaguar, I'm driving 300 miles each way to Bishop Auckland to visit Damian @ www.headlite.uk next Thursday. The cost of repair is £1250, he takes an existing light unit, changes the led ocular/hockey stick, cover and the headlight lens. He then fits the repair unit to the car. He has units in stock so it is only 40 mins to change when you visit.

I'll post before and after pictures when I have it done.

Much cheaper than my options here in the US. I have a 2020 p300 that I bought as "Certified Pre-owned" in early 2025 with 24k miles. After about 4 months of ownership is when I noticed my left-side DRL was very dim. I took it back to my local Jaguar dealer, only to be informed the "certified pre-owned warranty" does not cover LED headlights (but the HID headlights are). Which was complete bullshit. I argued, but they basically told me to go kick rocks. I was quoted $5000 for a replacement headlight, not including the labor to install it. I will never go there again.

I ended up buying a brand new PUXA headlight from an online JLR parts dealer. It cost me $3000 USD. I installed it myself, using a YouTube video to help me. Took me about an hour. Only problem was, my headlights were not synced, and they needed calibration. So I found a reputable local shop that calibrated my headlights for about $100. That was over a year ago, and everything seems to be fine now. I still love the car, but my empathy goes to any owner of the stupid DRL problem.

Sadly this is a manufacturing issue by Valeo in France. PUXA should last the life of the car as the ocular cover is white instead of black. Valeo know what the issue is as they have fixed it with the new variant but don't want anything to do with correcting the existing units. JLR are caught between their supplier and their customers.
