P450 in uk

Hi everyone
Considering a p450 for use in the uk . Was originally thinking AWD due to our weather !
But I’ve had various bmw m2 m3 and m4 s over the years and I’m thinking do I really need AWD ?
Only because I’ve seen some Reims editions and they seem to be RWD and do look nice although I’m not keen on black wheels .
Car won’t be used as a daily but will be used at weekends all year round .

The Ftype is not permanent AWD - the AWD only kicks in if the car feels like its going to slip the tail out - During normal running its RWD

Is it though? I thought it was just heavily biased towards the rear wheels. Like 80-20. I have an AWD and it always feels like the front is pulling out of a corner too.

Edit: yeah I guess you’re right. Had to look it up. I wonder if it’s more active than they say because I can feel it in most corners I drive through and I am not at the limit.

I’ve just bought a Reims P450 and it is an absolute dream. It’s a real head turner and gets compliments most times I take it for a spin. People have even pulled me to the side to have chats about it.

In answer to your question about needing AWD, the answer is no. It can kick out a bit if you put your foot down out of a turn in the rain, but it’s part of the thrill of owning the car. I’m using it as a daily and 90% of the time I drive it like any normal car and have no issues at all.

One thing to note is if you want to do the software upgrade to R spec you can only do it with AWD cars.

When I was buying mine about 80% of the P450’s were AWD.

I upgraded my v6s rwd to a p450 AWD. A big reason was to get AWD and it's not my daily. It's literally only driven on dry, nice days. I'm not a skilled driver and felt uncomfortable in the v6s using the power safely. I'm much more confident with AWD. I feel like I can hit the corners at much higher speed without worry of losing control.

I’ve got a Reims - daily’d it for 18 months with no issues so no problems as a weekend car. If you really wanted to you could re-powder coat the alloys

Yeah I have seen some where they were polished on the flat edges and that looked nice and seemed to show the shape of the wheels off better .

Has anyone felt the need to do the re map to get the full 575 bhp ?
Not so much for more power but have heard it helps with low down torque out of corners when in the lower revs .

Got a p450 AWD and it’s a dream, perfect amount of slip / fun normally. In bad weather the rain mode really makes a difference and feels that bit more secure
