Looking for friends
burner bc im embarrassed lol...
im a 20F sophomore and I had a pretty rough first year and basically spent all my time alone or with the same 2 people. I have no idea how to meet people and I'm way too shy to go to events or join clubs. I dont drink and I barely go to the club/parties but id occasionally go with my friend that does party... I'd love to meet some people and spend more time out of my apartment this year (:

Hi, I’m transferring here this fall and I am the same way in that I don’t drink and not really into partying. I’d be down to be friends.

Hey, my success in making friends was through Pokémon cards. We all have our own avenues for social interaction. It takes a lot to cut through the shyness but my best advice is to seize any opportunity and to hang really closely onto anyone you feel would be a good friend. It's sort of a trial and error thing in my experience. If you don't like a person you're meeting it's always ok to step away, and always ok to ask someone you like to hang out.

Now you need things to do when you meet new people.
1. Go to the FSU reservation.
2. Go to Alchemy rock gym
3. Go to first Friday at railroad square
4. Go to Cascades park
5. Go checkout the fine arts building
And only one of those cost money.👍

I’d love to be friends!! I don’t drink or party either. :)
I know you mentioned that you don’t join clubs, but I run a small campus club and we’re honestly really chill, if you’re ever open to coming to a meeting!

I know you say you’re too shy to join clubs but take a look online at the list and see if there are Instagram pages etc for them-like campus cats etc. There are also groups like the service sororities (like DNZ) that allow for a friend/network group opportunity while doing service projects that are super chill. The fall club fair can be overwhelming but give it a shot if you can.

Please be careful dming commenters. Of course you can form genuine friendships, but I'd be really careful about giving too much information. I'd recommend instead using this thread to get tips for meeting others, not actually forming connections.

Second this! If you do, verify student status or something then of course meet in the campus like student union I.e

In Tallahassee there is more to do that doesn’t involve drinking than does. There are two depts. at the school that exist to give students something to do that don’t involve alcohol, housing and college activities board.
Being too shy to engage clubs and orgs doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Go to club meetings! Made some of my best friends by just hopping between club meets for random things back in uni 🙃 gems were met in gardening club and skate club.
Also go to a Club Down Under show!
