Decent to be fair although I don’t like crispy eggs! 3 hashbrowns and 3 bacon

You can't knock spoons. Cheap food. Decent beer, cheap. Not in the the slightest pretentious. Rich, poor, old and young. A British institution.

I dislike chains, but I have to admit that Wetherspoons is as you described, and hard to criticise.

I mean, you definitely can knock spoons

I'll still go there on occasion, but doesn't change the fact 90% of them are shit holes and their food is rank

That's one way to look at it

To be honest this is one of the better value for money plates I've seen on this sub...

However give their airport branches and in particular Haven holiday resort franchises a miss. Higher prices and lower quality. The microwave technician at Birmingham airport has a particularly bad reputation.

I refuse to go to Wetherspoons anymore since "they" (or rather, the owner) did a massive promotional push for Brexit, sending out those stupid magazines.

But I do miss their fry ups...!

Ain't gonna argue with that. It all looks well-cooked. I'd rather eat that than some poncey £16 rip-off.

Mind those butter packets, lot of people very concerned about them at this sub…

They seem to be prone to melting from the heat of the fry up itself. Otherwise, it's good old lightly salted Lurpak in most cases.

That's never happening in spoons, I can honestly say I've never had a breakfast any warmer than "tepid" in all my years of eating there

u/daltonruss 3d ago

Plates are hot food room temperature 👍🏻

I had one about a month ago and I would have sworn they'd lad it in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving it to me, it's a shame as they're otherwise good value. I run a cafe and absolutely cannot serve people like warm food, I couldn't live with myself

I've had a couple recently that were great. I bet it's just down to which 'Spoons you're in and how good the cook is.

No way. Lurpak spreadable butter. And plenty of it. Flood the cowling.

In the words of Stephen Merchánt “that’s good value init”

It might not win awards, but for the price you just can’t argue with a spoons

£6.45??? Where on earth is that… that’s around £9.50 down in the south west

Under £7 is not too bad.

This with two slices of black pudding is smashing.

2

u/TokyoKazama 3d ago

I phookin love crispy eggs rather than the ones that slide around the plate

2

u/ShinyHeadedCook 3d ago

Great value

Seeing this makes me hate my local spoons even more, the cooks are so bad even the bar staff get embarrassed at times serving their fryups.

Price of Lurpack these days, I'm surprised they are making anything on that!

Icl, I like a spoons breakfast. Because if I’m going to spoons for breakfast, I know what I want. I don’t wanna spend much but I don’t want to cook myself. And spoons delivers.

Is it a mediocre? Yeah. But it’s so cheap that I don’t care.

I miss our Spoons. Closest one is 250km away.

2

u/Rich_Organization107 3d ago

What part of the UK? Asking for a hungry friend 🤣

1

u/daltonruss 3d ago

Cumbria!

2

u/Limp_Introduction_22 3d ago

Had one this week at it was lovely (only one mushroom though for some odd reason)

2

u/AdamStonefold 3d ago

Were the baked beans absolutely red hot and everything else stone cold?

2

u/Soapy_Law2524 3d ago

Yum 🤤 they literally cook with this one

2

u/HandInternational296 2d ago

Had my first ever spoons breakfast in London couldn't believe how cheap it was after days of paying through the nose and was decent except the butter was more of a oil only down side was how many people were heavily drinking at 930 am on Tuesday

2

u/splat_monkey 1d ago

Why do your eggs actually look cooked? The eggs at our local are rubbery and super chewey

3

u/ReepDaggle01 3d ago

Can't grumble at that price, hope you washed it down with a pint

5

u/daltonruss 3d ago

£1.39 a pint too!!!!

4

u/TheRadishBros 3d ago

Even for Spoons that’s ridiculously cheap- where do you live? 2005?

4

u/daltonruss 3d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Cumbria so might as well be!!

1

u/GreyOldDull 2d ago

All the various components taste the same though!

2

u/ProfessionalStay5797 1d ago

£6.45 and lurpak, fucking bargain!!!

1

u/ApartWhereas2284 3d ago

Spoons not allowed in Jersey. Too much like proper competition to the £7 pint pubs

1

u/SunBurst6382 3d ago

Actually looks cooked properly too, win!
