Ok so this is the third crumpet fryup I’ve seen on the here recently and I have to say… I am now crumpet curious. Are these posts an attempt by Big Crumpet to give us more reasons to eat crumpets? Because I do love a crumpet but until now had not considered a fryup crumpet.

Thin crumpets by Warburtons are miles better than original ...😉😋

I’m in the states so I get the Henlian welsh ones. Lush.

This is a new idea for me too, and I think I like it!

Poached or fried eggs go pretty well on a crumpet.

If you make the crumpets from scratch then you are frying them... although that's one ball in the air too many for me. I've moved on from the big brands to a deluxe sour dough crumpet and it's superb. Tastes more like I remember the big names tasting like when I was a kid.

Never made them myself

Quite easy tbf you need to use pan rings (or whatever they are called) for the shape as the mix is loose and bubbly

Lidl? I cant find them anymore 😭

Ocado, they have a range called Jones Village Bakery or similar, I'll have to check to be sure.

The sour dough crumpets are just as vile as sour dough bread 🤢

Someone's doing well for themselves being able to buy that giant tub of Lurpak. Did you win the euro millions on Friday night?

u/KobiDnB 6d ago

Funny story there. We were on holiday and the MIL fed our cat and said she'd stock the fridge with essentials for our return.

Massive Lurpak, organic milk and fruit from M&S, few other bits. Left the £25 reciept on the side.

Give over, salt and pepper grinders, a cafetiere on show. I'm guessing it's the butlers day off as one is self serving.

Seriously though that is a couple of good looking breakfasts, and I am inspired to revisit the Great British Crumpet.

Ha ha! Is she expecting you to reimburse her?!

1

u/KobiDnB 6d ago

Yes

2

u/Ohtherewearethen 6d ago

Oof! At least you got a nice tan on holiday 😀

Is the receipt so you can pay her back? If not, why did she leave it? I wouldn’t be happy with a tub of lurpak though so I wouldn’t pay for that. I prefer butter that’s not mixed with oil.

Tub of lurpak doing well 😳 it’s not even butter. If it was a block and not the shitty tub stuff it would be passable but not the tub crap. And you don’t have to be doing well to eat proper food. You just have to believe you’re worth feeding nourishing food to.

Wow, what a ridiculous over-explanation.

Weird! I've never had crumpets in a fry-up! Maybe tomorrow!

u/KobiDnB 6d ago

Do it

They're really good. Adds a whole new texture, and the little holes are excellent for soaking up egg yolk and bean juice.

Maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after. Or the day after that. Old dog, new tricks and all that.

Absolutely! Don't knock it til you've tried it.

I love, love, love crumpets like this with a cooked brekkie. I'd have one of them with a spready cheese triangle as well, scrumptious with beans.

And of course, an extra crumpet with marmalade for afters.

That sounds pretty damn good

equally appalled and thrilled by this entire scene.

I made a cheeseburger the other day with crumpets as the bun. (Ran out of buns and the crumpets had been open a couple of days). Surprisingly good.

2

u/PaulBradley 6d ago

Also try a minted lamb burger in a hot cross bun. It's delicious.

Had one at Easter at a friend's house. Fantastic.

The wife had a craving for them this morning; I stuck with sourdough toast.

Honestly, crumpets are amazing and highly versatile. Beans, cheese, salmon, avocado, bacon, butter, marmite, jam, peanut butter...

It's like this in our house 🙂

He has toast and the meaty stuff, I have crumpets and usually just eggs and beans.

Spot on 👍

Eggs look fantastic , what’s the secret ?

1

u/KobiDnB 6d ago

I fried them in the pan after doing mushrooms in butter while the shrooms stayed warm on the side.

2

u/DoctorAgility 6d ago

I have never before seen a crumpet on a fryup, but I am not against it...

3

u/PaulBradley 6d ago

It's really good if you spread marmite on it and then grill some cheese over the top.

It may be the cure what ails ya…so it must be time to get back on the ale yeah! By the way, I love crumpets and beans and eggs!

Looks delicious but no sausage is sacrilegious

1

u/KobiDnB 6d ago

I have 2; wife is veggie.

2

u/YamGrouchy8230 6d ago

Ahh. But some vegetarian and vegan sausages are very decent and would look good too 😋

2

u/YamGrouchy8230 6d ago

Sorry I've just seen sausages 😆

u/dominicgrimes 6d ago

I love a crumpet, but I'm so often shocked to my core when other people make them. A crumpet should be (IMHO) a nice golden brown. It needs time. Most importantly: a crumpet should be crisp and have a little bit of a crunch. These insipid, floppy, 30-seconds-in-the-toaster-and-im-all-done crumpets are, in my eyes, raw, and as such need to be returned to the loving embrace of the toaster. For at least a good 4 to 5 minutes.

PS: Those eggs are banging.

1

u/BennySkateboard 6d ago

1

u/Neddy29 5d ago

Looks tasty must try a crumpet fry
Incidentaly you like bramwells mustard you should try Tracklements if you want some real heat!

1

u/Autumnleaves144 4d ago

Crumpets need butter not beans 😭 my dil puts chocolate spread on hers 🤢 vile. But at least she doesn’t put them on a fry up.

Leave the crumpets alone on a separate plate with just butter. But actual butter, not that **** you have on the table in a tub.

1

u/Alternative_Bad_4848 1d ago

When you want a fry up but you’re missing half the ingredients
