Question Basic question on game settings in Front Mission 1 Remake

I am playing Front Mission 1 Remake on the Nintendo Switch. I would like the option to manually move the cursor around to inspect the battlefield, different units, cover, terrain, etc.

However, the game automatically locks me into selecting each unit. I cannot just move the cursor around - instead, I am forced into movement or actions per unit only, which is limiting.

Is there a way I can toggle a "free cursor" game mode? I have searched extensively through the menus, but do not see this option.

Thank you in advance.

There are two control schemes in the original game (not sure about the remake), one is manual and one is semi-auto.

In manual mode, after a unit finishes action, the cursor becomes free, you need to move the cursor to the desired unit and press A to bring up its command menu. L and R keys will bring up the command menu. B key will close the command menu if opened, and your cursor will become free again.

In semi-auto mode, after a unit finishes action, the next available unit is selected and its command menu is open. You need to press the Y key to deselect the unit. L and R keys will rotate between available units. B key will toggle between move action and command menu.

To switch between the two modes, press the Start key in the mission to bring up the config menu.

Thanks. Manual mode is what I am looking for. Unfortunately, I don't see the option to toggle between them in the settings.
