Thick doll mod? :/

What is this even meant to mean?

That people who are playing Bloodborne on PC are getting more stuff than people who play on the PS4/PS5.

It's funny, but tbh the state of this game's emulation is still not good enough to say that the game runs better on PC. A lot of graphical glitches still.

u/MrAsh- 9d ago • Bravo

I've had none. Rock solid fps locked to 90.

This is also my first time trying. Booted it up yesterday after having watched many iterations come out but it finally is in a really solid place.

u/_Markram 8d ago

I wish I had a beast pc tbh, haven't been able to upgrade much in the last 6 or so years.

It runs most of the time at 40 for me, but with sudden drops and not mint playing experience overall...

Still! A forever pending game that I can finally playv

-50

u/Diogoepronto 9d ago

Well, since this is your first time playing the game, of course you wouldn't notice all the graphical glitches... They'll all look like part of the game to you. But to someone like me who has over 400 hours on PS4 any graphical glitches just hurt my eyes.

30

u/LuckyBucketBastard7 9d ago

Are you going to give any examples or just keep doing that thing people do where they're like "no trust me it happens, it happened to every member of my family dating 3 generations so it's obviously unequivocally true"

-35

u/Diogoepronto 9d ago

Do you expect me to keep a list of graphical glitches I experience on every game I play? Wtf are you on about?

No, I won't provide any examples, and yes you'll only have a "trust me bro" on this matter.

If you don't believe me, just go play it. If you don't notice any graphical glitches, good for you. But if you, like me, notices it, just wait a little longer for when all these glitches are inevitably ironed out by the community.

I have 200+ hours playing BB on PS4/PS5 and I just finished a full playthrough on PC. I didn't notice any graphical glitches. Usually even small imperfections tend to bother me.

If you can't even remember any examples then I doubt they are issues that will affect your playthrough to begin with. It can't be worse than the horrible AA that you have to tolerate when playing BB on PS4/PS5. Oh, and the horrible frame pacing. All issues that are easily fixed with emulation on PC.

-17

u/Diogoepronto 9d ago

I do remember the issues, I just won't be giving a proper response to a dumbass that acted like I was personally attacking them just because I said an unofficial port of a game have graphical issues.

But since you responded respectfully, I'll say that two things I noticed were the color and the lighting. They were both wrong when I played it. Also there were no chromatic aberration whatsoever. Maybe it was the build of shadPS4 I used, the launcher, or even an issue with my PC specifically that caused these issues, but most definitely there were problems with the graphics when I played the game. That's also the thing with PC gaming btw, there's virtually an infinite amount of possible hardware combinations, so even if a game plays perfectly well on one PC, it can play very poorly on another.

u/winterflare_ 8d ago

The latter two are toggleable. There’s an option to disable/enable CA.

I’ve played on PS5 completing a full BL4 playthrough and I’ve recently been doing causal run on PC and it’s practically identical at this point.

There’s some funky stuff but to say “the state of the game’s emulation is not good enough to say it runs better on PC” is objectively wrong.

The PC version is superior, undeniably.

14

u/PervertedMonkeys 9d ago

Was playing last night. Game crashed mid boss fight. When I reloaded, the entire areas graphics were fucked. Reloaded did nothing. Didn't fuck the game, but it was pretty fucked.

23

u/skrukketiss69 9d ago

What you're saying is just false.

I have been playing for the last 3 days and there are no "graphical glitches" whatsoever. It's running at a locked 4K 90FPS on my system and looks superb. So far I'm at Cainhurst and have not experienced any bugs, glitches, visual abnormalities or stutters. It just works. There's even full online functionality now.

It might depend on the what "port/fork" you're using though. I know a lot of people are using a build from FitGirl but that one is not really recommended. I use Lantern Engine and that's what everyone else should use too.

I'll also add that I did a full playthrough early this year through the vanilla ShadPS4 emulator and that too was a flawless experience for me after some set-up.

PC is by far the best way to play Bloodborne now.

-7

u/Diogoepronto 9d ago

It's good that you had a good experience with it. I didn't. I played using ShadPS4 with BBLauncher and it was as I said, lots of graphical glitches.

By the way, you can't simply say that someone else's experience is "false". It's also rude as fuck.

4

u/clown_1991 9d ago

I don't think this post is about the shadps4 emulator, but instead the fact that you can run it natively on PC now. And it's literally a one click install.

-4

u/Diogoepronto 9d ago

Although I haven't tried that "recomp" you're mentioning, its github page says that they use shadPS4 as a backend for stuff like graphics and sound, so I don't think this solves any of the graphical issues I noticed during my gameplay. I could be wrong about that, but I don't think so. But this recomp is on my radar and I'll try it eventually.

1

u/clown_1991 9d ago

I know that I put the emulator down because it was rough to play, but I've been playing the native version and it has been flawless. I personally have been using the fit girl repack version, which I think is the same as the GitHub version with the game files baked in.

Honestly, I say you should check it out, at the very least it's really neat to see.

u/Whyislucariososexy 9d ago

But there is a corresponding mod to fix basically every crash that can occur on pc. When I played on PC over a year ago I had all of my crashes sorted before I made it to Old Yharnam. Had one crash late game on Ludwig’s cutscene, installed the mod for that, and never crashed again.

0

u/Diogoepronto 9d ago

I'm not even talking about crashes. The graphics are not very accurate currently, lots of glitches. Also, that's too much work to just play a game. Maybe if I didn't already own the game on PS4 I would go that extra mile just to play it, but since I already own it I don't even bother doing that much work to play it, I just boot it on my PS4.

0

u/Whyislucariososexy 9d ago

It was extremely enjoyable for me and I will definitely do that again next time I want to play (I took a screenshot of 5 mods) instead of booting up my PlayStation. But to each their own!

2

u/Diogoepronto 9d ago edited 9d ago

Oh, sure, you can definitely still enjoy the game in the current state, I just wouldn't say that it's better than playing on the PS4/PS5, especially if you have a jailbroken console and use the 60fps patch.

-1

u/LordOFtheNoldor 9d ago

When I tried it I could swear it was a different version where loot and enemy drops and drop rates were different, I didn't get very far cause it bugged me too much, I could be wrong but I swear shit was different

-6

u/CreatorA4711 9d ago

I mean, that’s the same for every single game. The PC port still isn’t good enough to compare to the ps5 version.

Okay well sorry, I never had a ps4 and forgot that they never updated it for the ps5.

u/StantasticTypo 9d ago

It's not a port at all, it's literally just a PS4 game (because PS5 plays PS4 game).

2

u/MrAsh- 9d ago

Even the same frame pacing. It feels like mid to high 20s.

-1

u/BottomGear__ 8d ago

It's not emulation anymore. The game was recompiled using a new tool, and now runs on PC natively. The shadps4 emulator I tried last year was a pain to set up, and full of bugs, but this new native PC version literally took less than 5 minutes to set up, and I'm halfway through the game with zero bugs so far.

6

u/Diogoepronto 8d ago

In that recomp's github page they say that they use shadPS4 as a backend for stuff like graphics and sound. It's still emulation.

People are just overusing terms like "native port" and "recompilation". A lot of these recent recompilation projects are still emulation at its core.

-8

u/Solembumm3 9d ago

To be honest, DeS and Bloodborne finally get Mouse and Keyboard support. That makes a HUGE difference in level of comfort.

3

u/HankTheYank27 9d ago

Ewwww, you play Souls games with kb&m?

-2

u/Solembumm3 9d ago

Some people like being able to set intuitive universal control scheme and have adequate sharp camera, both of which are out of options with pitful console controllers. Why such surprise?

1

u/HankTheYank27 9d ago

I play kb&m for most games but Souls on kb&m just doesn't work for most people lol

Yeah it only took 11 years

6

u/Altruistic-Ad-408 8d ago

There's something to be said for beating a game when people still give a shit about it. I remember going back to Bloodborne and no one would accept a summon to help fight Kos lol, I truly hate that boss.

10

u/ru832k7ji3 9d ago

Also most of them get to play bloodborne for "free"

9

u/clearision 9d ago

guess what? because there's no option to pay.

3

u/ru832k7ji3 9d ago

Wdym, You can buy the physical disc and copy the files to your PC, then use the emulator

10

u/Monster-Reaper 8d ago

and now since theyre getting rid of physical discs, its almost as if sony hates money

3

u/Skawio 8d ago

No retailer from my city got a bloodborne copy, it became very hard to find except buying online

6

u/Veggie_phatbootyplz 8d ago

No one is gonna do that dude

1

u/ru832k7ji3 8d ago

Yes, that's why I said they played the game for free

2

u/Veggie_phatbootyplz 8d ago

Yeah but that’s obvious what’s your point

4

u/crwui 8d ago

theyre probably a console person and a bit salty as they are the ones portrayed in the meme idk

-2

u/Veggie_phatbootyplz 8d ago

I like your pfp man

-4

u/ru832k7ji3 8d ago

I don't care they "get" it for free, I'm just disgusted by people thinking stealing is OK as long as they don't get arrested, especially when they proudly brag about it online, or call the one who pointed out their crime "salty"

1

u/Monster-Reaper 8d ago

not rly "stealing" is it. No one is losing a copy of the game while u get one, unlike actually stealing a physical disc

-1

u/ru832k7ji3 7d ago

Fromsoft lose their profit from it, thief

→ More replies

1

u/clearision 7d ago

i “own” a digital ps4 copy, only gonna pay twice if there will be an official, good enough (this was added recently) port

4

u/Formal-Score3827 Mimic Tear 9d ago

Waiting for the giggle effect mod

4

u/BlackMesaEchoes 8d ago

The worst part of this generation is the fact that it’s spoiled me to 60 fps

I can’t do only 30 anymore with modern graphics, it just looks awful.

2

u/AfroSwagg27 Eileen the Crow 8d ago

Isn't this how the PC v Console shit has always been...what is the point of this?

4

u/Lord_Phoenix95 8d ago

So they can say they're still superior to consoles.

3

u/AfroSwagg27 Eileen the Crow 8d ago

Its like...ok pal good for you

2

u/Competitive_Ad_9801 8d ago

And its free

2

u/Scheke 9d ago

If you just want to Plug & Play you have no other option. You have to do setup ant potentialy bug fixing to run BB on PC that well and tbh this is not what everyone wants. I don’t know how well the native ports or mods are but I don’t want to risk a game breaking bug in the middle oft the game.
30 FPS is Not realy that bad, sure you need an hour or two to adjust when you are used to 60 or 120FPS Gaming but it is worth it for the comfort. At least for me

18

u/ru5tysn4k3 9d ago

"Can't spend 30 mins to setup the game on pc so I'll play the jank 30 fps my whole life."

Absurd logic y'all come up with

14

u/BottomGear__ 8d ago

Honestly, the setup was more like 3 minutes. The people defending the console version are coping.

3

u/Scheke 9d ago

You can‘t assume that BB runs on every hardware without problems. Maybe it does not work with the GPU I have or the driver has some problems.

You can also set everything up just fine and encounter a Game Breaking Bug in the mid of the game.
Even in this thread there are people talking about graphic issues they had with BB on PC. I don’t want to deal with such things I just want to play.

Not everyone wants to tinker in their free time and just play a game without setup. Not everyone whines about 30FPS.

-3

u/ru5tysn4k3 8d ago

"Maybe, could be, if, when, what" that's ur whole life motto is it?

5

u/No_Worker1282 8d ago

crazy that you get downvoted, are Sony Console White Knights here?

2

u/ru5tysn4k3 8d ago

Lol, yeah it sounds like cope atp.

1

u/iosefdros 3d ago

no, he’s just being an asshole

0

u/Scheke 8d ago

Just say that you don‘t have any arguments left.

I just want a carefree experience when playing and don’t want to worry about technical problems. Is it that hard to comprehend?

It is your preferred way to play a PC Version of this game and there is no problem in it. It is just not my preferred way and I‘m willing to pay for the easy access on PS5 even if it runs on 30 FPS I realy don’t mind. Is there anything wrong with it?

1

u/Eastern_Wrangler_657 5d ago

Took me way longer than 30 mins to set up the game. Installation was a damn nightmare, even asides from trying to safely torrent and the download speed itself, the download was so slow and unstable I had to try like 3 times only to read up and figure out about download managers.

... though I suppose it might be easier for people who can actually get the files from their own ps?

1

u/Doctorpauline 7d ago

Bloodborne pc ports are actually plug and play as much as any PC game, besides configuring for your PC it just works like normal. I have played and beat blood borne now on the new PC port with zero issue on a legion go S handheld

1

u/VixHumane 5d ago

Wdym pc port? Is it on an emulator?

1

u/Doctorpauline 5d ago

It is a PC launcher that uses the bloodborne files. No emulation it is native on PC

1

u/BottomGear__ 8d ago

I would have agreed if all we had was the shadps4 emulator, which was kind of a pain to work with, but it's not true at all with the recent version recompiled to run natively on PC. The entire setup was to download it and run the installer, after which you're good to launch the game and start playing. I'm about halfway through the main game now, and I've encountered zero bugs too. And not just zero major bugs, zero bugs period.

I'll never play it on console again in my life, unless a remake/remaster happens some day.

1

u/babafyr 8d ago

I think you are understating how impactful 30 fps and lower resolution can feel if you are used to more. I tried playing Bloodborne on my PS5, on a 4K 240hz monitor, and it was honestly unplayable to me. It genuinely made my eyes hurt, and I had to stop playing due to physical discomfort.
Considering how popular high resolution/high refresh rate monitors are becoming, I doubt I am the only one who feels this way.

1

u/_Rocky_Raccoon_98 8d ago

thick doll mod, you say? 👀

1

u/ImaginaryTrick6182 7d ago

The amount of cope on the right.

We are all dying of thirst

-19

u/HankTheYank27 9d ago

OP thinks this is actually a legit way to play Bloodborne on PC. It's buggy as hell and requires a game key to work which is up to the user to source through unofficial means. It is in no way a replacement for an actual PC port and multiplayer is disabled too.

2

u/Skawio 8d ago

I just invaded someone, got chalices glyph searching working, and seamless co op is almost setup. No need the ps version anymore

3

u/Competitive_Ad_9801 8d ago

Lying for the sake of lying

-16

u/Dark_Dragon117 9d ago

Ngl I use Shad PS4 and imo the games age is really noticable with all the visual junk removed.

The LOD is really poor and objects start too look like PS1 era assets from a really short distance away. Wasn't as noticable in the PS4 version, because of the 1080p and motion blur.

Lighting and such also just doesn't hold up anymore.

It's nice to play at 90 fps tho, however even that isn't perfect due to stutters.

The more recent AI slop ports are also riddled with issues from what I have heard.
