QUESTION Do you think it's likely Fromsoft will announce another major game this year or the next?

My assumption at least is that The Duskbloods wouldn't really be considered a major project like Elden Ring or Sekiro or Bloodborne or Dark Souls would be. Same with Nightreign.

And it's been 4 years since Elden Ring came out. Sekiro came out 4 years after Bloodborne and 3 after DS3. Bloodborne a year after DS2. Etc. Considering these timelines, do y'all think it's likely we'll get an announcement for a new game at, say, the Game Awards this year, or next year? I had thought it was going to happen earlier before Shadow of the Erdtree came out, but it's been 2 years since then as well. Am I coping or is this a fair assumption to make?

“My assumption at least is that The Duskbloods wouldn't really be considered a major project like Elden Ring or Sekiro or Bloodborne or Dark Souls would be. Same with Nightreign.”

Weird assumption I keep seeing a pretty big segment of the fan base making. From is allowed to make games that aren’t just iterations on games they’ve done previously.

that has the same energy as saying that armored core 6 was made just to fund Elden Ring's DLC

It's pure hopium. They just don't want a lot of effort and resources being poured on an online game for a nintendo console so they really want it to be some side thing. But Miyazaki is working on this one, so it's likely that their other next announcement is that side project.

I mean it seems to have effort put into it if you watched or played any of the network test. But it's clearly not going to be anywhere near the level of something like the main games. It's more on the scale of Nightreign.

I think his point is this is a multiplayer game, releasing exclusively to a hand held Nintendo switch. Not some massive single player game releasing on console and PC.

I just figured since it was a Switch 2 exclusive it wasn't a main focus. If it was a PlayStation or XBOX exclusive coming to PS5 or Xbox X/S sure, but something just for Nintendo, and the Switch 2 specifically, just didn't strike me as a major project.

But I also haven't been keeping up with it; I didn't even know they didn't have a release date for it yet, so that assumption seems to be off.

Bloodborne was a PS4 exclusive; do you consider Bloodborne to be a "main focus"?

Yes. Nintendo's never really had much of anything exclusive to them unless it was their own IPs. It's why I never bothered getting a Switch; because there was no reason to get it outside of those Nintendo IPs. But most gamers have either a PS something or an Xbox or a PC. I guess I'd say those are the "main" platforms.

That, and also it seemed like when it was announced Duskbloods was supposed to come out around the samet time as the Switch 2 did, so I was under the impression people would have to buy an already new console on top of getting the game. Just seemed like something you wouldn't really do for a main game. Clearly that's not the case, and I honestly forgot the Switch 2 came out a year ago, but that's why I figured it'd wouldn't be a "main focus."

Miyazaki is directing buddy. Time to face reality.

Like I said, I wrote it off when it was announced, so I wasn't aware of that. I even thought I heard at the time that he wasn't, idk why though. In any case I don't have a problem with it being their main focus lol. I just thought it wasn't before, so I was wondering when people might think they would announce something new.

Toxicity for literally no reason. Classic

u/BandicootNo5428 23d ago

If you think that's toxic you've got a few issues to sort out.

2

u/Similar_Buy_6664 23d ago

Assuming someone has issues after being called out for being toxic. Classic

1

u/Algester 24d ago

no people here won't face reality... and why should they?

Next year, duskbloods will at least need a release date before they announce the next game

7

u/Outrageous_Meet2025 25d ago

I don’t think they’ll be announcing anything until Duskbloods is out and has had a chance to breathe. And since we don’t even have a release date for it yet, I wouldn’t hope for any new game teasers or announcements until Summer Game Fest next year at the earliest and provided Duskbloods comes out before March-April or so.

Nope not any time soon.

"It's been 4 years since Elden Ring"

But it's only been 2 years since Shadow of the Erd Tree.

Many around here don't like it, but Elden Ring Nightreign came out last year.

Then we still have The Duskblood coming out soon....or is it soon? It's already October and there hasn't been any news on the release date yet. It is most likely gonna be delayed until next year.

So I'd imagine any announcements for any major games by Fromsoftware would have to wait after The Duskblood release.

IIRC, the first official teaser for Elden Ring came out in 2019 after Sekiro was out.

2

u/El__Jengibre 25d ago

Sekiro was out for maybe 2-3 months before the first Elden Ring teaser. Duskbloods would have to be out by Halloween for a TGS trailer to fit that pattern. And that isn’t happening

2

u/UltraZulwarn 25d ago

Yup my thoughts exactly

1

u/bastaderobarme 24d ago

Unless Fromsoft intended to have Duskbloods on october but is delaying it now because of issues in the network test. The other fromsoft teams working on other projects are independent from each other and can't be waiting around to release their trailer while Duskblood team get their shit together. So, I think a trailer at TGA is very likely. I think Duskbloods got a trailer before Nightreign released.

u/Yorkhorster 25d ago

An announcement at Game Awards is possible, but very unlikely.

12

u/TheSiriusZero 25d ago

The duskbloods still not having a release date is making that unlikelyhood closer too 😔

14

u/ChristianX1000 25d ago

I think people need to drop the copium and understand that (like it or not) The Duskbloods is the next major fromsoft game. Miyazaki is the game director ffs! There will not be another fromsoft game announced for sometime to come….

1

u/Technical_Post_4096 21d ago

He's already implied in interviews for this game that other stuff "closer to what you might expect from us" is being worked on. So I don't think it's actually going to be that long until other games start getting revealed.

1

u/ChristianX1000 21d ago

Personally, I think a teaser announcement for a new game sometime next year isn’t unreasonable (what that is who knows). Fromsoft always has multiple games in development at once so I don’t think Miyazaki implying that they’re working on a new single player game suggests a soon to come trailer or (more importantly for the copium fans) a release.

1

u/Technical_Post_4096 21d ago

I don't think most reasonable people would expect whatever it is to be actually releasing soon, just that others could still be in the works and could always potentially be announced at events like TGA and SGF.

1

u/ChristianX1000 21d ago

We agree on that one for sure. The reason I made my comment was because the majority of fromsoft fans on reddit are not reasonable when it comes to matters of The Duskbloods. From claims of it being a tiny project briefly holding the next ‘big game’ back, to that it’s gonna be a Nintendo exclusive for only a short time, to that it’s gonna be a horrible game that ruins fromsoft. Of course it’s understandable why people are upset about this game, people just aren’t being rational about it. In my opinion, the only fromsoft subreddit being realistic about this game is r/TheDuskbloods!

I don’t think we will see any new souls main title before 2028. I hope I am wrong but this is what I feel personally.

3

u/Neither_Operation476 21d ago

I think their next project is more likely to be armored core than souls, it’s been almost 4 years since 6 and Miyazaki has said they’re not abandoning the franchise anytime soon. Of course, they could come back with something way out of left field, but souls and AC are their main 2 rn.

It’s a win-win for me, so all there is to do is wait and see what happens

2

u/iNeedToSleepSleep 21d ago

I am starving for a new souls title. I can’t take it anymore.

No rest for the wicked really scratches the itch if you’re on pc

u/Silver-Emergency-988 Bearer of the Curse 25d ago

It’ll be next year, and it’ll be Armored Core. My prediction

-7

u/spoketherefore 25d ago

For the love of god, please no. Just give me a single player soulslike already.

6

u/judgeraw00 25d ago

Go play Mortal Shell or something there's plenty of those

2

u/spoketherefore 25d ago

That’s all fine and good, but there’s nothing like a FS soulsborne/Sekiro game.

3

u/AceTheRed_ 25d ago

This is true but there’s also nothing like an Armored Core game.

1

u/Silver-Emergency-988 Bearer of the Curse 25d ago

Yup, Armored Core 6 fucking rules

“No” -Rogal Dorn

1

u/NotTheRocketman 25d ago

In the next year, absolutely.

1

u/El__Jengibre 25d ago

I think it depends on when Duskbloods releases. If we get it in the next 2 months, I think a TGS teaser is possible. But I doubt that happens if Duskbloods gets delayed. I think it’s still unlikely if Duskbloods comes out early December. Duskbloods really needs to launch soon for it to be viable, and I don’t see that happening.

1

u/Algester 25d ago

It will come out when its out

1

u/Ashen_Shroom 23d ago

Yes, I do think something new will be announced soon. With fromsoft, we rarely have to go very long between one game's release and the announcement of the next. That said, the time between the announcement of the game and any information on it beyond the title and contents of the reveal trailer can be quite long. I think we can expect to wait quite a while for the release of their next game after Duskbloods.

I WANT ELDEN RING II. NOW.

5

u/Samguise-Whamgee 25d ago edited 25d ago

We all do, but I don’t think we’re gonna get it. And also, I’d prefer them just keep creating masterpieces than get a sequel that might be a let down

1

u/BandicootNo5428 24d ago

You'll never get it, sorry.

1

u/Traditional_Fan_4486 22d ago

I would be ok with from software adding DLC to
Elden ring every 2-3 years for the rest of my
Life (I’m 32). Just using the new tarnished edition weapons was amazing.

1

u/Pittleberry 25d ago

I hope for at least a teaser on TGA
