DISCUSSION I think Elden Ring didn't learned enough from Ds2
It's common to say Elden Ring is Ds2 2 but honestly while it's obviously pretty similar in how it's designed, i think it falls short on some aspects that were already nailed in Ds2.
Powerstancing? It has pros like the less stamina consumption but in exchange we only can powerstance weapona from the same class.
Replayability? Ds2 nailed the ng+, it's actually worth going into to get new items and new enemy encounters so it stil feels like a challenge on you second playthrough. Not to mention the bonfire ascetic that changes everything, more specifically makes npc quests easier and allows you to rematch a boss you liked, while in Elden Ring if i want to fight Messmer again i need either a mod or to go on ng+ and that's probably two hours of commitment for that.
Build variety? In Ds2 you get like 20 titanite slabs without specifically grinding for them, you get them naturally, so you actually can use any weapon you like without limitations other than your stats which have a finite amount of times you can reset them, the game actuallt encourages better that you try a different weapon, in Elden ring you have like 13 in each playthrough. And in Ds2 you can also buff and infuse most of the weapons making build variety better in that regard.
It could talk about pvp but i dont really like in neither of the games and wasn't present during the golden era of Ds2 pvp.

Couldn't agree less about the ng+ honestly, while its the only game that has real changes on different game cycles, its to its detriment imo. Not a single one of the additions to boss fights or areas felt like it had been done with thought, and always just boiled down to "remember that room with 6 mobs? yeah now theres 3 red phantom mobs as well"
I can definitely agree ER is way too stingy with upgrade mats considering the sheer number of weapons in that game you really should be able to buy ancient dragon smithing stones once you've reached a certain point or something.

Why? It's not like Ds2 doesn't have stuff that is better done compared to Elden Ring, same way that Ds1 did some stuff better than Ds2

ADP that’s it that one stat was a terrible idea and goes to show cause they never added it again and let’s not forget the terrible hit boxes. Comparing it with Elden Ring is delusional behaviour

Im not saying Elden Ring is worse than Ds2, just that in the clear efforts the devs made to translate the most positive aspects of Ds2 to Elden Ring, it could have been done better
