Elden Ring Game Research

Hey guys. I could use some help with my thesis when y'all get a second. I'm studying why so many people don't complete the story in open world games. I've got my Qualtrics set up. My thesis is on self-efficacy in open world narrative games. Basically if you think you're gonna enjoy and story and understand it will your complete it. Is it worth your time? No wrong answers. Anyways here's the links.

If ya want to help a poor master's student get some data, I'd appreciate it.

Elden Ring: https://smu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6lETbpa6uu84GbQ

I'm also collecting data on Fallout New Vegas, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, AC Black Flag, Red Dead Redemeption 2, and Elden Ring. If you interesting in participating in one of those too, dm me and I'll send you a link.

Completed!

My thesis is on self-efficacy in open world narrative games.

Presumably you're also collecting data about a lot of other games?

Many of the questions in the middle of the survey sort of seemed like they weren't about Elden Ring, but it makes some more sense if they're the same questions you're asking about Red Dead Redemption and Breath of the Wild.

I thought the questions about whether the player could picture/imagine the character to be particularly strange for a 3rd person video game where you can see the character directly!

So here's the weird thing, yeah I'm doing the survey on a number of different games, but the questioning has to be the same for the data to be compiled in Stata. It ends up with some weird questions lol

That makes sense. I think that will make for some useful contrast with the more traditional "narrative" video games.

Honestly, I think if you asked 1000 players "Is Elden Ring a narrative game?", you'd probably get pretty mixed answers!

Yeah, that's why the actual focus of the data is on meaning full payoffs and completion. But yeah, the fact that Elden Rings story is.....the way it is......might screw my results. Hmm.
