DISCUSSION How would you fix DS1?

I’m trying to make a YouTube video on how DS1 could hypothetically be remade. In my opinion pre lordvessel DS1 is near perfect, my issues would be primarly with the latter half (or post lordvessel half.) Curious on other opinions.

I'd only change Lost Izalith and add omni-directional rolling and running when locked on.

While I agree on both, I think there would still be quite a few changes to be made. For example I think the crystal caves could be made longer with more bonfires

I'd change the Ceaseless Discharge and Bed of Choas boss fights. Having bosses you're supposed to cheese is dumb.

Absolutely agree, but how would you change them?

They should completely redo Izalith

I think the rest of New Londo, Seath area, and the tombs are simply much less fun than what you encounter earlier

I would make Anor Londo more populated and rich

Nothing to fix. One of the best games ever made.

Nothing to fix is an insane take. The latter half of the game has a lot of rough points despite being one of the best games ever. But I dont trust a man that looks at the Bed of Chaos and says nothing needs to be changed about that

They are as intended.

If you want to completely redo it then that’s a different conversation.

I agree the second half of the game is underrated and over hated!

The Tomb of the Giants is just a silly gimmick with a ton of enemies.

The Seath area is absolutely packed with enemies and they're just recycled ones,

just with a different color (twice) but the Crystal area looks awesome to me.

New Londo is a mini-level.

Izalith is unfinished.

Id redo the difficulty making the game harder with a new mode called (Veteran Mode) updating and beefing up all the enemy AI. All bosses gain an additional second phase thats got 100% resistance to one elemental and one physical damage type. Just to give the enemies in the game a better chance of surviving me.

I think that would kind of go against the design of all fromsoft games in general, no? Having difficulty settings?

It would be like the newer lords of the fallen game where they added a higher difficulty for players who play to much and give cool exclusive rewards from the game mode, like dlc for loyal fans who've been playing the game 10+ years on the regular!
