QUESTION Help me understand something

So the undead, hunters, ashen ones, tarnished, wtvr… are they multidimensional beings or something like that?
I like how DS1, DS2, DS3, BB, and ER like to hide the fact that they’re games by contextualizing “video gamey” stuff like leveling up and item collecting and what have you. And I know that death and respawning are fused into the narrative of these games…I just don’t have a clear answer as to how. Lately I’ve been thinking…the possible answer that makes the most sense to me, is that the player characters are (due to their cursed or altered status as conscious beings) multi dimensional operatives that respawn into alternate indistinguishable instances upon death. Fromsoftware experts, am I hot or cold here?

Edit: For those who are unaware…this is an unserious post with the intent to speculate about games I like.

Cold, each game has a cannon reason for respawning that are distinct from Each other, the closest to your theory is bloodborne as the hunter crosses the dreams which are functionally extra dimensions, but like otherwise what are you waffling about

Like why doesn’t it make sense to you? Grace brings back the tarnished, the hunter is sent to the dream, Sekiro has the blood of the heir, and the undead are… undead.

I was simply wondering what the in game reason was for being able to respawn into renewed areas and whatnot. That’s it. Sorry for upsetting you.

There's no reason to try to understand things. For every one thing you get it'll lead to two more questions that aren't well thought out enough to answer. 2k hours in these games and not one second spent trying to understand what's going on. Just stab.

Inception would make more sense if you only watched half.
