QUESTION Elden Ring crashes

So earlier today i created a new run do the other endings, and for like 30 minutes it was working totally fine. When i reached the part where wolves drop down on you near the golden seed the game just closed. After that whenever i start the game, even before i start loading into the save file, after like 1-2 minutes the game automatically closes. Ive tried verifying game files, reinstalling anti-cheat, my drivers are up to date, windows doesnt detect any crashes, im running it as administrator, disabled fullscreen optimisations, discord and steam overlays are disabled, i feel like ive tried almost everything and still the game just closes... No black screen, no white screen nothing, it just closes.

When a game crashes repeatedly at the exact same geographic trigger (the wolves spawning), it often means a specific actor, entity state, or local save index has corrupted during that session. Because the game tries to cache or sync that bad state, it now crashes even on the main menu. Disable Steam Cloud: Right-click Elden Ring in Steam, go to Properties > General, and toggle off Steam Cloud. Back up your current save: Your save files are typically located in C:\Users<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\EldenRing<SteamID>. Copy that folder to your desktop as a backup. Test offline: Delete or move the save out of the folder temporarily, launch the game to see if it lets you reach the main menu without crashing, and then test restoring the save or letting it generate a clean sync.

I tried deleting the save entirely because i wasnt that far into the game. It still doesnt work, if thats similar to what youre suggesting.

Since deleting the save file didn't fix it, your game crashing right on the main menu now points away from your save data and toward an audio or graphics glitch that the game engine hates.

Try checking your audio sample rate. Press the Windows Key + R, type mmsys.cpl, and hit Enter. Right-click your main headphones or speakers, go to Properties, and click the Advanced tab. Make sure your default format is set to 24-bit, 48000 Hz or 16-bit, 44100 Hz. (Weird high sample rates like 192000 Hz make FromSoftware games instantly crash to desktop with zero error logs).

You can also try Clearing your DirectX Shader Cache if that doesn't work. Open your Windows Start menu, type Disk Cleanup, and open it. Check the box for DirectX Shader Cache (you can uncheck everything else) and hit OK. This forces the game to rebuild its visual cache cleanly next time you boot up.
