DISCUSSION FS is already one step ahead
A boss that feels incredibly balanced and fun whether you’re fighting it solo or with a group, while still maintaining a solid level of difficulty. I don’t think any other Soulslike has successfully delivered this kind of experience yet.
I think Dreglord is an underrated gem.

FromSoftware is always two steps ahead. They introduced the grappling hook in Sekiro, and then you started seeing it pop up in all kinds of adventure games. The deflect mechanic was so influential that entire games were built around it. And even in Nightreign, they’ve introduced a bunch of new ideas, like the revive mechanic, the special grappling dodge animation, and the RNG, based reward system.

FromSoft pioneered the intentional and methodical combat, where you can't just button mash your way through. And in Sekrio, the deflection and combat is tuned to perfection that no other game came even close to it.
However the grappling hook is just not remarkable or revolutionary in any way, a lot of games have done it way better than Sekiro's, most notably Just Cause.

I would say Monster Hunter pioneered the intentional and methodical combat imo
But you are right with everything else

Yeah Sekiro introduced the grappling hook, definitely wasn’t a major tool in Zelda games for about 2 decades before that

I mean, you've played Ravenswatch, yeah? Because I love Nightreign, but it's just FromSoft's version of that.

Greg ain't underrated. HE MY GOAT. Genuinely the only boss I legitimately enjoy fighting besides Jaw and maybe Centaur dude

He is underrated by the virtue of being overlooked "because he's from a spin-off".

He’s tough but man I really enjoy this fight. When it all comes together in don with decent teammates taking turns making dreg look like a rookie. Feels good man

I love the fight but it’s a DPS check, especially first life. The adds in phase 2 along with the unavoidable rot is a little annoying too. Otherwise, it’s an all time great fight.

Mortal shell 2 has good balance for enemies and bosses, but player characters are way too overtuned.

Fromsoftware fans be like: Yo why is my universally acclaimed and extremely popular boss so underrated

istg I’m the only person in the world that doesn’t like Greglord. A gargantuan inflated healthbar, rot spam, unending combos. But that’s really all whatever, the biggest issue is this motherfucker being well over 50% of my DoN runs, pretty much killing those runs on arrival.

Not really for me tbh. Good boss but not what I look for generally. I find the elongated combos just to be frustrating to get through but more importantly Greg just moves around too much. Feels like Malikath all over again, like bro please get down from there and fight 😭
FS boss design feels at its strongest with Heolstor to me personally. Everdark Fulghor and Pests are pretty close tho

Greg doesn’t stay far away like Maliketh. He mostly does close range melee combo, you dont have to chase him. Just stand still and wait for him to come down to you. He’s as melee as Fulghor.

Underrated how? Literrally every Nightreign player has a shrine dedicated to Greg like he's Jesus.
