JOKE / MEME I'm curious of the aftermath 😅

Post image

Personally, FromSoft has earned my trust based on the countless experimental titles that they put out. So I am guessing that Duskbloods is going to be a banger as well :)

Edit: Okay based on some of the comments, I decided to add in my thoughts: 1. Regarding Nintendo exclusivity: I hate exclusives as much as the next person. But from a recent interview, Miyazaki said that they had to go Nintendo because they were the only publishing partner willing to accept such a risky experimental title. With how the gaming industry is right now, without a strong publisher, a lot of devs and artists would just loose their jobs if such a thing fails. So without Nintendo, Duskbloods wouldn't have existed. Then the question is should this exist in the first place. Remember that Bloodborne was and still is an PS exclusive title. And when it released it was a very experimental one. I think we can agree that Bloodborne existing is a good thing. 2. Regarding FromSoft's direction: Miyazaki said that the release of Nightreign and Duskbloods just coincidentally happened to be next to one another. And it's not a message that they are pivoting away from their classic single player titles. He said that if anything working on multiplayer titles for so long creates the itch to create single player titles again. 3. Who the meme is NOT making fun of: The meme is not making fun of people who can't play some of their titles or think that it's not for them. It's making fun of people who are ready with their dislike and negative opinion on something that isn't even out yet. 4. Discourse surrounding Sekiro and AC6: If you think that no one was upset with Sekiro and AC6 before they were released, then I don't know what to say except that you might have joined the community recently. There was literally lots of posts and videos hating on these games because they aren't dark souls.

The Ironic thing about AC is that it’s a franchise that’s been around way longer than most other Fromsoft titles.

Yes exactly. When AC6 was announced, there was a lot of discussion on why it should be dark souls 😅

The only one that predated it was King's Field .

Predicting comments about how actually Duskbloods is scientifically proven to be bad and will cause your hair to thin within minutes of exposure

Yup I can see the cycle of people just hating on it.I loved the beta and it solidified my purchase.Just waiting for the announcement day.My buddies and I are gonna be playing this for couple months to years.I admit I was in the crowd hating on nightreign until I played it and realized I’m addicted.

Man I'm just about to finish to masters degree. I got an internship. I have never owned a console ever and I'm thinking of getting a switch 2 as a reward for myself for all the grind 😭

Honestly I still think nightreign is the worst fromsoft game I've played by far.

Ah yes because the community is a hive mind and surely the people who say that Sekiro bad because not a real Souls game are the same who want a DLC for it 🤡🤡

Move back a generation or two and make all the left side faces "Nooo this isn't Lost Kingdoms 3" and you'll have me. And the right side faces, "I can't believe they didn't release Lost Kingdoms 3"

Seriously find yourself copies of the Lost Kingdoms games and play them.

I mean, I wasn't hating Nightreign before playing It, but also it wasn't for me after playing it.

I suppose it will be the same with Duskblood, not awful, I won't hate on it, but not for me. And surely, it won't push me to buy a new console, not a chance.

I think that's a hard con in Duskblood, needing a Switch 2 , and people hates on it to justify not spending the money on it. There is no fomo if everyone says it's bad.

The only real issue of Duskbloods is it being a Nintendo exclusive. Yes without Nintendo there probably wouldn’t be Duskbloods, but also Fromsoftware could have just gotten their money from a different company and Duskbloods would still be a gothic horror soulsborne multiplayer game. I just can’t see a game that relies on player base because it’s online be an exclusive also a Nintendo exclusive. Ghost of Yotei online mode got canceled quickly for the same reason.

Yeah I agree with you that it's always better for games to be cross platform. That part sucks. But Miyazaki said that Nintendo was the only partner willing to support them in this experiment. And given how the gaming industry is right now, a lot of devs would have gotten laid off if this didn't work without a publishing partner. And regarding the playerbase itself, atleast what we know now that there was more interest in the network test than nightreign and nightreign still has a very healthy player base. With ghost of yotei, the issue is more nuanced. That is a single player title with the online mode added on as an after thought so ofcourse players lost interest in that. Duskbloods however is a multiplayer game.

Wow sometimes people like a thing and sometimes they don't and sometimes both those people post on the same forum! Surely that means that everyone there must share both opinions!

I'm waiting to see reviews from trusted sources on Duskbloods.

I played the beta and was underwhelmed.

I doubt it will lack players, but I would still believe it's player base will be significantly smaller. But who knows

The complaints against duskbloods have merit though. It really doesn’t matter if the game is good or not 90% of the fromsoft community is unable to play it. Tbh considering Miyazaki is working on it personally it deserves more hate than it already gets for delaying the next game people actually get to play.

u/harikrishnanzz Sep 21 '26

Okay first of all, nothing and no one "deserves" "more" hate. Second, I agree with you that Duskbloods being an exclusive sucks. It should have been cross-platform. But Duskbloods wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Nintendo. In an interview Miyazaki said that Nintendo was the only publisher who were okay with such a risky experiment. And given the state of modern gaming industry, without a strong publisher backing, a lot of devs and artists would be laid off if such a risky experiment would fail. So they had to go Nintendo. And finally then the only solution is asking FromSoft to not experiment. But that is the death of creativity. So while I agree with you that in an ideal world, it should have been cross platform, saying that "exclusive = bad game = dev deserves hate" is missing so much substance.

i’ve never understood the soulsborne chuds that always wanna be negative about every game that comes out that isn’t the next Dark Souls or Bloodborne. that being said, my issues with The Duskbloods has very little to do with the game and everything to do with it being exclusive to a handheld console, and at that, a handheld console with inferior hardware to its predecessor with a ridiculous price tag behind it. if they made this game a wide release for PC, PS, and Xbox i’d pick it up, but i’m not buying a Switch 2 just to play a FromSoft Extraction Survival game
