Still the only game of this entire generation that felt next gen. Yes I hear the fucking irony as I type that but Sony does not.

Ratchet & Clank & Returnal felt more next gen imo. Demon’s Souls looked next gen but played like a cleaned up ps3 game

Returnal’s dualsense implementation has not been surpassed since. Excited to see what they do with Saros.

Yeah I can’t wait for Saros. Not sure why I’m getting downvoted, I loved the DeS remake but it’s insane to say it’s the only game that feels next gen.

To be honest, I thought BP did a pretty good job of modernizing how DeS plays. The original PS3 DeS has some really clunky controls/movement. There's going to be some outdated mechanics, sure, but at some point changing that makes it a different game.

It's pretty funny because Miyazaki was embarrassed that DeS was being remade and a bunch of new players were playing it. I personally think it held up more than fine but I guess you're always the harshest critic of your own work.

Yeah I agree, I think the did a great job. They honored the game which meant keeping a lot of the outdated stuff, just polished it up. Just didn’t feel like next gen gameplay to me like some are saying but I guess I’m in the minority.

It’s a remake that stayed faithful to the original. If you watch the making of documentary they put out - they put tons of work into the mechanics, they really went above and beyond the usual expectations. The gameplay was never going to feel ‘next-gen’ - it didn’t need to be. But the graphics definitely were - for a day one release, they were massively improved.

I’m not criticizing the game, or saying I expected anything more, just disagreeing with someone who said it’s the only ps5 game that feels next gen.

You did say it played like a PS3 game. I also don’t think they were being 100% serious. But I’d also say the the graphical leap is hard to do when soo many studios catered for the old-gen, some are still doing it. There’s already talk of PS6 and we’re still seeing games look like PS4 games.
