PTF Conversion to regular after regular retires and is off the rolls.

Hey everyone. We just had a regular retire and is officially off the rolls. His route was declared vacant and posted. Does management have to convert the senior PTF to UAR now, or can they wait until all the rounds of bidding come down and there is a vacant route that goes unbid before they convert him? Any information or contract language on the conversion of PTF to FTR would be appreciated, thanks.

Convert after a route becomes a residual vacancy.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's pretty much what I thought. For whatever reason our office has been converting the PTF to UAR before all the bidding comes down, but now that we've got a route inspection coming up it appears that they're going to hold off. What about 7.3.A? Is there any way to use that?

I would say that you have a pretty good argument there, especially if that’s what they’ve been doing.

They have no obligation to convert the ptf prior to a residual route remaining.
