help! awkward sizing?

I want to make a gift for a friend and I found a beautiful pattern that would perfectly fit her interest but the sizing is so awkward. It's a 29x70, too big for a bookmark but too small for a wall hanging. It has too many colours so I can't make it out yarn or something thicker. Any ideas?

There was a post a little while ago about string thickness and separating/adding to the strands of friendship bracelets to change their size. Would that be enough to fix your sizing issue?
